Summary: This paper proposes a simple two-step method for synthesizing Ag, Au, and Pt-doped ZnO nanoparticles. The method involves using pulsed laser deposition to fabricate targets and laser ablation in water for the production of doped nanoparticles. The study shows that the doping of Ag, Au, and Pt can decrease the band-gap energy of ZnO and influence its optical properties and structure.

Summary: In this study, gold-silver composite nanoparticles were successfully synthesized in aqueous media by pulsed laser ablation. The effects of different layer thicknesses and thickness ratios on the formation of nanoparticles were investigated. By comparing the absorbance spectra and theoretical calculations, a direct correlation between the Au and Ag content of the nanoparticles and the film composition was found.

Summary: The extensive application of multifunctional composite films of metal nanoparticles embedded in a dielectric matrix is remarkable. In this study, FePt:LaSrFeO4 composite films with ferromagnetic and optical absorption properties were successfully fabricated using magnetron and pulsed laser co-deposition. The annealing process further improved their crystallographic quality and uniform distribution, resulting in a redshift of the absorption peak. These composite films have potential applications in multifunctional devices.

Summary: Graphene-based composite thin films were deposited on glass substrates using Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) at room temperature. The annealing temperature was found to have a significant effect on the chemical properties and photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite films. The stoichiometry and optical characteristics of the films could be accurately adjusted through optimized annealing temperature. Confocal Raman spectroscopy confirmed the formation of a composite film with features of both ZnO and GQDs at 300°C. The optimized nanocomposite film showed a high photocatalytic ability with an 84% degradation rate for dye.

Summary: This study demonstrates that ferroelectric properties can be observed in non-capped dopant-free HfO2 thin films by adjusting the deposition temperature, oxygen pressure, and thickness. A maximum polarization strength of 14.7 mu C/cm(2) was achieved in a 7.4 nm-thick film, suggesting a new method for fabricating high-quality ferroelectric HfO2 thin films.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the effect of laser repetition rate on the properties of FST superconducting films deposited by pulsed laser deposition. We found that as the laser repetition rate increases, the crystallinity and stoichiometry of the films deteriorate, resulting in a degeneration in superconductivity. However, by increasing the substrate temperature, we were able to successfully deposit high-performance FST films at a high repetition rate.

Summary: This study investigates the possibility of using a magnetron-based gas aggregation source for the production of mesoporous vanadium films composed of individual vanadium nanoparticles. The results show that the optimized deposition conditions allow for the production of porous nanoparticle coatings as well as coatings with columnar structures. Additionally, it is demonstrated that these coatings can be easily transformed into vanadium pentoxide films without losing their mesoporous character.

Summary: The excitation of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) on the surface of ferroelectric film (barium strontium titanate, BST) on a dielectric substrate (silicon) was theoretically studied. The study found that the most effective SAW excitation occurs when spontaneous polarization happens in the film plane and the wave propagates in the direction adjacent to the direction of the spontaneous polarization vector. Furthermore, the effect of misfit strain on the SAW characteristics was investigated.

Summary: The electro-optic coefficients of ferroelectric materials were determined using Landau thermodynamic theory. It was proven that if the permittivity tensor is diagonal, certain ratios of the electro-optical coefficients are equal to ratios of its diagonal components. The influence of external electric field on the electro-optic coefficients of single-crystal barium titanate was studied and analyzed. It was found that the electro-optic coefficients for barium titanate are relatively high due to the non-linear response of dielectric susceptibility to electric field strength.

Summary: A method for controlling the properties of thin ferroelectric films by applying additional strain to the substrate is proposed in this study. Utilizing phenomenological theory and Landau potential model, it is shown that the material constants of the film can be altered by introducing additional strain to the substrate. This allows for control over the phase state of the film and excitation of surface acoustic waves in the film-silicon substrate heterostructure.
