Summary: This study designed a tailored biopsychosocial intervention for patients with low back pain to prevent pain chronicity using a multidisciplinary empirical approach. The intervention took into account biomechanical, psychological, social and environmental, and lifestyle and personal risk factors. The intervention process was presented in a logic model, which included all the necessary resources, activities, outputs, as well as the outcomes and impacts of the intervention. A comprehensive tailored intervention may decrease the risk of pain chronicity.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the responsiveness and minimal important change (MIC) of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) in individuals with chronic low back pain undergoing multidisciplinary rehabilitation. The results showed that the PCS demonstrated good ability to detect patient-perceived clinical changes post-rehabilitation, with determined MIC values providing a benchmark for assessing individual improvement in this clinical context. These values increase confidence in interpreting score changes, enhancing their meaningfulness for both research and clinical contexts.

Summary: In older adults with chronic low back pain, aberrant lumbopelvic movements are associated with decreased physical function at 12-month follow-up, independent of baseline physical function and covariates. Future research should evaluate if screening for aberrant movements can inform prognostic and interventional efforts in this patient population.

Summary: The research revealed that patients undergoing endometriosis surgery generally believe that cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) should be added to the treatment regimen to improve their quality of life. Participants preferred in-person individual or group therapy and emphasized the importance of custom-made treatment plans tailored to individual needs.

Summary: This study compared the clinical outcomes of clinic-based multidisciplinary therapy and online integrated multidisciplinary therapy in individuals undergoing conservative care for low back pain. The clinic-based program showed greater pain relief and reductions in disability, while the online program reported greater improvements in goal achievement. Both programs resulted in reduced opioid use frequency.

Summary: Smartphone rehabilitation applications have not been widely adopted, but the COVID-19 pandemic has provided an opportunity for their integration. This systematic literature review compared smartphone rehabilitation applications to standard physiotherapy for back pain treatment. The results showed no significant difference in VAS-pain score between the application and control groups, except for one research group that found significant improvement in PROMs for the application group. Therefore, application-based rehabilitation programs can provide an easily accessible alternative for patients with back pain.

Summary: Prompt and appropriate treatment of chronic low back pain is crucial for preventing disability and reducing healthcare costs. The concept of functionality in chronic pain management is still lacking a shared definition, leading to different opinions among specialists and patients. Although there are instruments available for assessing functionality, there is no consistency in their use.

Summary: This scoping review explored the use of behavioural activation (BA) in managing chronic pain. The findings suggest that BA has the potential to reduce pain, but caution is needed due to the high risk of bias in most studies. Further high-quality research is required to determine the effectiveness of BA as an intervention for chronic pain.

Summary: The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of low back pain on patients' physical, psychological, and social aspects of life from a qualitative perspective, particularly focusing on the relationship between low back pain and sexual life. The study also explores patients' opinions on the role of healthcare providers in addressing and treating low back pain-related sexual problems. The results suggest that sexual disability is perceived as severely limiting and correlated to pain by patients with low back pain.

Summary: This systematic review synthesized the current knowledge on the flexion relaxation phenomenon (FRP) in the nonspecific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP) population. The results showed that altered FRP is frequently found in NSCLBP patients using surface electromyography (sEMG) and the test has good reproducibility. There was a significant difference between asymptomatic individuals and NSCLBP patients in terms of flexion relaxation ratio (FRR), but further research is needed to confirm the value of FRP due to high heterogeneity.

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness and safety of nonpharmacologic interventions delivered through synchronous telehealth with in-person interventions for musculoskeletal conditions. Results suggest that synchronous telehealth has similar outcomes as in-person care for nonacute musculoskeletal conditions in adults and may be a potential option for management. However, the results may not be generalizable to rural or low socioeconomic populations.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and factors associated with low back pain (LBP) among the Iranian population. The results showed that female gender, older age, being overweight or obese, smoking history, low physical activity, and short sleep duration were significantly associated with LBP. The study found a lower lifetime prevalence of LBP among Iranians compared to global prevalence.

Summary: This study found that 10-35% of COVID-19 cases in outpatient settings develop post-COVID condition. The duration and severity of symptoms contribute to the complexity and heterogeneity of post-COVID condition. Patients with chronic symptoms experience increased healthcare utilization, treatment needs, functional impairment, and poorer quality of life. Having multiple symptoms and difficulty concentrating at 7 months after infection are associated with a chronicity of symptoms.

Summary: The presence of Meaning in Life (MiL) has a potential protective effect against suicidal ideation (SI), while the search for MiL is also a possible resilience factor. Patients with low presence-low search profile had higher scores of SI. These findings provide guidance for psychotherapeutic interventions for chronic pain patients.
