The National Maritime Museum London UK has been working toward energy reduction for sonic years About six years ago it began to adopt a more sustainable approach overall A group was established to look at sustainability across the museum sites from introducing recycling and bicycle parks to reducing energy consumption by looking at lighting and environmental policies Conservators involvement has led to many energy saving and sustainable initiatives discussed here Larger projects that combine conservation needs with the other requirements such as storage are also discussed The benefits of this approach are explored increased cooperation across departments and the development of a longer term approach to sustainability
