Summary: In patients with neuropathic pain, epidural injection of dexamethasone at a concentration of 50 μg/mL has a good analgesic effect with minimal adverse effects on blood glucose, plasma cortisol, and ACTH levels.

Summary: Exposure to dexamethasone during pregnancy can disrupt glucose homeostasis in offspring, with older male offspring being more susceptible. Maternal vitamin D administration does not impact glucose tolerance, but can mitigate insulin resistance and liver lipid accumulation in male offspring.

Summary: Exposing male rats to a high-fat diet affects their attractiveness, offspring interaction, and stress-related responses. The study reveals that paternal diet and maternal behavior influence the microbiota composition of offspring through the microbiota-gut-brain axis, indicating implications for adult stress reactivity.

Summary: Thirteen deep neural networks with different architectures were constructed to predict blood glucose concentrations after independent insulin injections without historical records of any patient. The proposed prediction method is more accurate and clinically acceptable than previous methods, as demonstrated through model re-validation.

Summary: This study found an association between birth season and gestational diabetes mellitus in East China, with pregnant women born in autumn showing higher postprandial blood glucose levels during pregnancy. The findings suggest that exposure to seasonal changes in early life may influence blood glucose metabolism during pregnancy.

Summary: This study investigated the protective effect of stigmasterol on human brain microvessel endothelial cells (HBMECs) against ischemia-reperfusion injury and explored the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that stigmasterol significantly protected cell viability, alleviated the loss of tight junction proteins, and attenuated the blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage induced by oxygen and glucose deprivation/reperfusion (OGD/R). It was found that stigmasterol interacted with EPHA2 and inhibited its phosphorylation, contributing to its protective effects.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic illness in the United States with approximately 120 million affected adults. Tight glycemic control is essential for managing diabetes and reducing the risk of complications. Continuous glucose monitoring systems are recognized as the ideal monitoring systems for diabetic patients.

Summary: In women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), glyburide is effective for reaching glycemic goals during pregnancy, but may increase the risk of maternal hypoglycemia. Switching to insulin therapy after glyburide treatment failure can improve glycemic control.

Summary: The study found an association between height and gestational diabetes (GDM) diagnosis and complications during pregnancy, with shorter women more likely to be diagnosed with GDM, and GDM being more strongly associated with complications such as preterm delivery and higher birthweight among taller women.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence of steroid-induced hyperglycaemia (SIH) in hospitalized patients with lung diseases, as well as factors associated with SIH control. The findings showed that most patients did not achieve adequate glycaemic control during hospitalisation.

Summary: The risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is influenced by pregnancies conceived through assisted reproductive technology (ART) and the dosage of B vitamins. Excessive supplemental folate intake increases the risk of GDM in women who conceived through ART.

Summary: Characterizing RCI users and identifying predictors of RCI initiation in rheumatoid arthritis involves comparing preindex characteristics, treatment patterns, comorbidities, healthcare resource utilization, and costs. Patients who initiated RCI treatment typically had more severe RA, higher comorbidity burden, increased glucocorticoid and opioid use, and higher healthcare resource utilization compared to non-RCI initiators. Significant predictors for RCI initiation in RA patients included intermittent glucocorticoid use, extended high-dose glucocorticoids, nontraditional DMARD use, and comorbidities such as anemia and renal disease.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of platelet activation and procoagulation in patients with preeclampsia (PE), compared to normal pregnancies and gestational hypertension. The results showed that platelets in PE patients underwent structural and functional changes, with higher activation levels and stronger procoagulant properties. Glucose transporter-1 and glucose transporter-3 may serve as sensitive indicators of PE onset and progression.

Summary: This study aimed to determine predictors of hypoglycemia among neonates of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and its association with short-term outcomes. The results showed that neonates born to Asian mothers and those born at higher gestational ages had reduced odds of hypoglycemia, while neonates born to Pacific mothers had increased odds of hypoglycemia. Neonates who experienced hypoglycemia were more likely to have neonatal intensive care unit admission, hyperbilirubinemia, require respiratory support, and less likely to be breastfed at discharge.

Summary: Maternal infection during pregnancy can affect the development and function of offspring's immune system, leading to abnormal responses to childhood infections and immunizations. However, research on maternal parasitic infections is lacking, and many infected pregnant women are unable to receive mass drug administration due to lack of resources and concerns about adverse fetal outcomes.
