Summary: Polysaccharides play an important role in biomedical applications, but their preparation faces challenges. This study presents a synthetic strategy to regioselectively functionalize polysaccharides using post-polymerization modification reactions. This new method provides a new approach for obtaining functional polysaccharide mimetics for biomedical applications.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of micropores on the catalytic activity of aminosilica materials. By comparing materials with micropores and materials with negligible micropore volume, it is found that the materials with negligible micropore volume exhibit higher catalytic activity in a range of reactions.

Summary: Edible packaging is a sustainable product and technology that uses edible materials to package food, with polysaccharides being a reliable source for such packaging materials. While polysaccharides have excellent properties, they still need reasonable modifications to improve their film-forming, mechanical, barrier, and protective properties. Edible packaging has been widely applied in the food packaging industry, providing a zero-emission scheme and reducing dependence on petroleum resources.

Summary: This study developed polyphosphazene-functionalized microspheres inspired by the formation of microspheres by hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene and 4, 4′-sulfonyldiphenol. The catalyst showed high catalytic activity towards Knoevenagel reaction at low temperature and maintained high yield even after multiple cycles. It demonstrated wide applicability under mild conditions, and could be easily separated and recovered.

Summary: It has been discovered that beer contains non-starch polysaccharides, which are a type of dietary fiber. The study of non-starch polysaccharides in alcoholic beer can be applied to nonalcoholic beer. The content of non-starch polysaccharides in beer is influenced by the brewing process and affects the physicochemical properties of the beer.

Summary: The synthesis of bis phenyl pyrazolone piperidinium salt derivatives from the reaction between an aromatic aldehyde, 3-methyl-5-phenyl pyrazolone and piperidine in ethanol is described. The reaction proceeds via Knoevenagel condensation followed by hydrogen bond formation, giving good yields of products without the need for column chromatography. The products were confirmed by spectroscopic techniques such as FT-IR, H-1, C-13 & DEPT 135-NMR and HR-MS.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) functionalized with biguanide can be designed and prepared through N-alkylation reaction, exhibiting a granular aggregate structure with high specific surface area. This biguanide-decorated DG-COF shows excellent performance as a highly efficient basic catalyst for Knoevenagel condensation and Knoevenagel-Michael-cyclocondensation reaction, with outstanding yields, short reaction times, and simple operational procedure. Furthermore, the catalytic performance of DG-COF remains stable even after eight regeneration cycles.

Summary: Polyureas are versatile materials with complex internal structures that have broad potential applications. They are produced by reacting hexamethylene diisocyanate with aliphatic or aromatic diamines. Various characterization techniques have revealed their porous nature and stability up to 250 degrees Celsius. Polymer formation and network structures were detected through CP TOSS C-13 solid state NMR and PXRD, with hydrogen bonds serving as cross linkers. These highly insoluble and layered polyureas show promise as heterogeneous catalysts, demonstrating higher catalytic performance in Knoevenagel condensation reactions. However, a decrease in catalytic activity was observed in the 7th recycle, possibly due to water molecule adsorption.
