Summary: In this study, nanostructured ITO thin films were prepared using ion beam sputtering and oblique angle deposition techniques, and the effects of different experimental conditions on the surface texture of the films were investigated. The results demonstrate that the texture engineering of the films can be achieved by controlling the atomic mobility and deposition angle under specific experimental conditions.

Summary: Integrative neural interfaces combining neurophysiology, optogenetics, and neural imaging offer opportunities for studying neural circuits in the brain. The development of ultra-flexible, highly conductive and fully transparent microscale electrocorticogram (mu ECoG) electrode arrays with PEDOT:PSS-ITO-Ag-ITO assembly shows enhanced mechanical flexibility, robustness, and resilience to photon-induced artifacts. In vivo experiments demonstrate successful recording of light-evoked ECoG oscillations from the primary visual cortex (V1) of an anesthetized rat.

Summary: This study developed three types of optically transparent coatings to improve the wear-resistance and sand erosion abilities of ITO-coated PMMA substrates. Results showed that PU topcoats greatly enhanced sand erosion properties, surpassing acrylic and silicone topcoats, attributed to their good toughness and self-healing properties. Additionally, high hardness and good Taber abrasion properties of the ITO films and silicone topcoats did not have a significant impact on sand erosion abilities due to their brittleness and irreparable properties.

Summary: Indium tin oxide thin films were deposited on aluminum nitride substrates by magnetron sputtering and annealed at different temperatures. The study investigated the structural, optical, electrical conductivity, and gas sensitivity of these films. The results showed the potential of developing gas sensors with low resistance and high sensitivity. The annealed films at 500 degrees C exhibited high sensitivity to gases, with short response and recovery times. The qualitative model proposed in the study explained the sensory effect of the films.

Summary: A simplified TADF-OLED without HIL and HTL was achieved by modifying the surface of ITO with a composite self-assembled monolayer. This method increased the work function of ITO, improved the quality of the emitting layer film, and facilitated hole injection. The HIL/HTL-free TADF-OLED exhibited favorable luminescence performance and provided an effective method for simplifying TADF-OLED structures for commercial application.

Summary: This study focuses on the development of semi-transparent Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGSe) mini-modules for building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). By using in-situ X-ray diffraction, it is found that the indium-tin-oxide (ITO) back contact remains chemically stable during CIGSe processing. However, the accumulation of gallium oxide (GaOx) at the CIGSe/ITO interface reduces the efficiency of the solar cells. Applying a thin molybdenum layer between CIGSe and ITO inhibits the formation of GaOx and improves the transparency of the modules. The long-term outdoor testing of a semi-transparent module prototype demonstrates its stability under varying climatic conditions.

Summary: The argon atmospheric pressure plasma treatment is used in combination with the conventional sol-gel dip-coating process to improve the electrical properties of ITO glass by increasing the thickness and reducing the sheet resistance of the ITO thin films. However, prolonging the plasma treatment time beyond 240 seconds can lead to an increase in sheet resistance due to the diffusion of oxygen into the bulk, reducing the level of oxygen vacancies.

Summary: In this study, printable indium tin oxide (ITO) based transistors are used to implement a highly secure DNA cryptosystem. The devices are encoded into DNA sequences in pairs and DNA operations are performed alongside the plaintext for encryption. By using small asymmetrical ring structures, the uncertainty in channel length and thickness during printing is increased to enhance the disorder of the DNA nucleotide sequence. The findings demonstrate the effectiveness and security of the DNA cryptosystem.

Summary: Measuring specific contact resistivity (pc) is crucial for interface engineering in high efficiency solar cells. The Transfer Length Method (TLM) is commonly used for evaluating layer sheet resistance (Rsheet) and pc, but it is not suitable for metal/Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO) interface evaluation in silicon heterojunction (SHJ) cells. This study investigates the parameters that restrict current confinement within the TCO, including mid-gap trap density (Dit) at the a-Si:H/c-Si interface and the activation energy (Ea = Ec - EF) variation of a-Si:H contact layers.

Summary: The phenomenon of ribbon lengthening in PV modules exposed to thermal cycling is not well explained in the literature. In this study, a three layers model is proposed to explain this effect, and the predictions of the model are validated through finite element method simulations and experiments. The results show that the model predictions are consistent with the indirect measurements, but not with the direct measurements. Additionally, it is inferred that the encapsulant plays a role after the solder failure.

Summary: In this study, a highly reflective ohmic contact to p-type c-Ge material is demonstrated, which can improve the efficiency of thermophotovoltaic devices. The experimental results show that this contact can simultaneously meet the requirements of good back surface passivation, low electrical resistivity, and high reflectivity. Moreover, simulations suggest that implementing these back contacts has the potential to achieve conversion efficiencies comparable to high-efficiency c-Ge TPV cells.

Summary: This study found that decorating subwavelength arrays with SiO2 quasi-nanolenses (qNL arrays) can enhance the absorption of the solar spectrum. Optical absorption mechanisms in qNL arrays were investigated using near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM), revealing that the enhancement is a result of the combination of effective antireflection coating, increased optical interactions between adjacent dielectrics for elevated light trapping, and strong light concentration due to the presence of qNLs.
