Summary: The aim of this study is to determine the variation in levels of depressive and anxious symptomatology in children and adolescents in the North of Chile. The findings show an increase in symptomatology levels of depression, anxiety, social anxiety, and problems with the family, while a decrease in problems with school and peers was observed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study concludes that the transformation of social relation spaces and classrooms due to the pandemic has led to an increase in mental health problems among secondary school students, highlighting the need for improved coordination and integration of mental health professionals in educational centers and schools.

Summary: This study aims to identify factors associated with emotional distress and longitudinal changes in emotional distress among unaccompanied migrant children in the US. The findings suggest that unaccompanied migrant children are at high risk for emotional distress, including symptoms of depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress. The persistence of emotional distress suggests that they would benefit from ongoing psychosocial and material support after resettlement.

Summary: This article investigates how foreign NGOs in northern Uganda establish programs to treat mental ill health, training local Acholi counselors to work with psychiatric notions of trauma and practice counseling with local clients. It shows that the training of counselors and the practice of psychotherapeutic counseling cultivate specific notions of trauma and how the mind works, which are shaped by local concerns. This study contributes theoretically by framing these interventions within an attentional learning approach.

Summary: The prevalence of neonatal hypothermia is high, with factors such as home birth, low birth weight, and delayed breastfeeding initiation being significant predictors. Neonates with hypothermia have a higher case fatality risk compared to normothermic neonates. Communities in tropical climates should focus on addressing neonatal hypothermia through early breastfeeding initiation and skin-to-skin care interventions, especially for neonates born at home and with low birth weight.
