Summary: This study evaluated the accuracy of CBD and THC labeling in topical cannabinoid products and found that they are often inaccurately labeled and many contain THC. These findings suggest the need for clinical studies to determine whether topical cannabinoid products with THC can produce psychoactive effects or positive drug tests for cannabis.

Summary: The transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS) can increase patient compliance, but many drugs are not easily absorbed through the skin due to the barrier function. Polymers can promote transdermal absorption as a chemical penetration promoter or as a raw material, and this article introduces the structure and mechanism of the skin, as well as the classification of polymers.

Summary: In this study, we synthesized 12 oil-miscible ionic liquid drugs and found that one formulation containing oleate had 2.6 times higher permeation ability than the traditional levamisole salt. Animal experiments showed that the levamisole ionic liquid had higher plasma concentration and longer elimination half-life compared to the levamisole salt. Additionally, the levamisole ionic liquid demonstrated excellent biocompatibility. Therefore, oil-miscible ionic liquid drugs provide a simple and scalable strategy for the design of effective transdermal drug delivery systems.

Summary: Hydroxytyrosol (HT), a natural polyphenol from the olive plant, has various beneficial properties such as antioxidant, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory effects. This study aimed to enhance the skin permeation of HT through the use of a niosome gel formulation. The niosome formulations showed controlled release of HT and increased skin retention compared to HT solutions, with the presence of lecithin further enhancing the retention.

Summary: This study aimed to develop transethosomes as a nanovehicle to enhance the transdermal delivery of ginger extract (GE). The selected formulation of GE-loaded transethosomes showed appropriate particle size, zeta-potential, and encapsulation efficiency. The transethosomal hydrogel demonstrated sustained drug release and improved skin permeation and anti-inflammatory effects compared to free GE hydrogel.

Summary: Transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS) is a potential approach for effective drug delivery, with advantages such as easy administration, controlled release, and prolonged therapeutic effect. Poor skin permeability is a primary challenge, but can be overcome through fusion with other methods. This article summarizes the fundamental features, components, and design of TDDS, as well as methods for assessing skin permeability. It also explores the application of active methods and passive methods in transdermal drug delivery.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of aromatic mediators, reducers, and non-reducers on the decolorization kinetics of dye oxidation by Fenton processes. It was found that reducers were more effective in increasing the second-order reaction rate constants. The presence of mediators also led to improvements in oxidation capacity and a decrease in the activation energy of Fenton reactions, making the oxidation of dyes more effective.

Summary: The objective of this research was to encapsulate niflumic acid into bilosomes for transdermal delivery and effective treatment of osteoarthritis. The optimal formulation (B5) contained 5 mg of sodium taurocholate and 5 mg of Brij-93, showing high entrapment efficiency and suitable particle size. B5 gel exhibited higher drug permeation across rat skin compared to NA gel and demonstrated superior efficacy in vivo.

Summary: The present study evaluated the effect of gold nanoparticles stabilized by chitosan (CS-AuNPs) and citrate ions (Ci-AuNPs) on skin permeation of sodium fluorescein (NaFI) and rhodamine b base (RhB). CS-AuNPs showed enhanced permeation of NaFI, superior to Ci-AuNPs, and this enhancement was likely due to improved delivery through the transepidermal pathway. However, CS-AuNPs and Ci-AuNPs had no significant effect on the permeability of the lipophilic molecule RhB. CS-AuNPs also exhibited no cytotoxicity towards human skin fibroblast cells.
