Summary: This study synthesized novel PVDF membranes with negatively charged amphiphilic copolymer additives and investigated their properties. The modified membranes showed improved pure water flux, flux recovery ratio, and antifouling performance compared to the original PVDF membranes. The synergistic effects of hydrogen bonding and the electrostatic repulsion of negatively charged groups were attributed to the enhanced performance of the copolymerized blended membranes.

Summary: The membrane prepared by blending aminated graphene oxide with dehydro-fluorination polyvinylidene fluoride has a smooth surface, visible pores, high porosity, low water contact angle, high water flux, and good flux recovery ratio. These characteristics contribute to its excellent hydrophilicity, anti-fouling performance, and mechanical properties.

Summary: This study demonstrates a facile method to modify the surface of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) membranes with polydopamine and TiO2 in order to increase water permeation. The deposition of TiO2 was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs showed that the modification process with polydopamine caused some pore obstruction. However, the incorporation of 1.0% TiO2 in the membrane resulted in greater hydraulic permeance, indicating improved hydrophilicity.

Summary: PVDF membranes blended with different amounts of MWCNT-ZnO nanocomposites were prepared, and their structural and morphological properties were investigated. The hydrophilicity of the membrane increased with the increase of nanocomposite content, as shown by the reduced contact angle. Blending 0.5% of MWCNT-ZnO in a PVDF membrane achieved 85% removal rate of RbB under UV light irradiation. The pollutant removal occurred through the processes of adsorption and photocatalysis, improving the membrane's self-cleaning property and lifetime.

Summary: In this paper, a hydrophilic PVDF@TP membrane was prepared by directly modifying PVDF membrane using green tea extract (tea polyphenols, TP). The resulting membrane exhibited excellent separation efficiency and flux for oil-water emulsion, with good antifouling ability and stability even after 10 times continuous separation. Due to its facile preparation, economy and high-performance, the hydrophilic PVDF@TP membrane has a broad application potential in industrial oily wastewater and oil spill treatment.

Summary: In this study, an innovative nanocomposite was synthesized by spreading polydopamine on the outside of halloysite nanotubes and covalently grafting L-Cysteine. The resulting PVDF based UF membranes exhibited excellent performance, including high water flux, low irreversible pollution ratio, and good long-term anti-protein fouling performance.

Summary: Mg-Al layer double hydroxide nanoparticles were synthesized using co-precipitation technique and incorporated into a PVDF mixed-matrix ultrafiltration membrane via phase inversion technique. The effects of polymer, pore-former, and nanofiller contents were studied to optimize the membrane structure, leading to improved filtration performance.

Summary: The main purpose of this work is to improve the hydrophilicity and antifouling properties of hydrophobic PVDF microfiltration membranes through modification. The as-prepared PVDF-PG/PEI/CTS membranes showed a smaller water contact angle and significantly increased pure water flux. The modified membrane also exhibited high stability and efficiency in the separation of oil-in-water emulsions.

Summary: An asymmetric membrane with strong acid and alkali concentration capacity was successfully prepared for DCMD, demonstrating superior separation efficiency and acid-alkali resistance compared to the original PVDF membrane. The modified PVDF membrane showed a higher concentration factor for acidic and alkaline solutions, indicating its great potential for application in DCMD processes.

Summary: To solve the problems of high gas permeability and stability caused by commercial Zirfon separators, a highly hydrophilic polybenzimidazole-type composite porous separator was proposed. Compared to Zirfon separators, the proposed separators exhibited significantly reduced area resistance and hydrogen permeability, as well as higher water and liquid absorption rates, bubble pressure, and lower hydrogen permeability.

Summary: ZnL-PVDF supramolecular ultrafiltration membranes were fabricated using an in-situ chemical blending method to solve the problem of MOF agglomeration in MOF/polymer UF membranes. By adjusting the content of ZnL, the water flux and BSA rejection of the membrane were significantly improved, with the highest water flux reaching 271.8 L m-2 h-1 bar-1 and BSA rejection of 96.5% under optimal conditions. These results demonstrate the potential of the facile in-situ chemical blending method for fabricating uniform and highly hydrophilic MOF/polymer UF membranes.
