Summary: Traditional Chinese medicine formulas have been widely used for thousands of years, and with the development of artificial intelligence and network pharmacology, an intelligent recommendation system called FordNet has been proposed to improve clinical diagnosis and treatment. By integrating phenotype and molecular information, FordNet shows significantly better performance compared to baseline methods, demonstrating the potential to advance TCM research and practice.

Summary: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used for over 2000 years, but modern research on its safety is limited. Zebrafish has been increasingly used as a model for toxicity research, offering low cost, high-throughput screening, and exemption from ethical legislation up to 5 dpf. Although zebrafish shows promise in evaluating TCM toxicity, further development of toxicity testing criteria and high throughput assays are needed.

Summary: Chronic pain is a common health problem, and the current medication options have limited effectiveness and side effects. Alkaloids from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) have been studied for their potential multi-target effects. This article introduces several well-studied analgesic alkaloids derived from TCM and their mechanisms and clinical applications, using the concept of drug-cloud (dCloud) theory. Drug combinations and the combination of herbal drugs with specific properties in TCM are explored for better therapeutic effects.

Summary: Global wildlife trade impacts around 24% of terrestrial vertebrates, with demand for traditional medicinal materials, especially traditional Chinese medicine, being a major driver. The classification of TCM into three components - zhongyi, TCM, and CMP - reveals distinct markets and communities within the industry, which could aid in developing strategies for reducing demand and redirecting towards more sustainable practices. This approach highlights the need to engage with official TCM authorities, professional bodies, academics, and practitioners to address concerns related to species conservation and animal welfare.

Summary: Traditional Chinese medicine has been practiced for treating human diseases for thousands of years, where one of its advantages is the principle of herb compatibility in TCM formulae, consisting of multiple herbs to achieve maximum treatment effects. A network-based method was proposed to quantify interactions in herb pairs, revealing that frequently used herb pairs tend to affect neighboring proteins in the human interactome. The study provides a network pharmacology framework to explore herb combinations more effectively based on network topology.

Summary: Adult neurogenesis is important for cognitive function and mood regulation, but abnormal adult neurogenesis is linked to neurological and psychiatric diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been shown to have unique advantages in improving adult neurogenesis and treating these diseases through regulating various stages of adult neurogenesis. This review summarizes the progress and key mechanisms through which TCM improves adult neurogenesis, and suggests possible strategies of TCM in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders.
