Summary: The definition of the elderly as individuals aged 65 years or older fails to consider the genetic, lifestyle, and overall health differences that contribute to significant heterogeneity among older adults. With the global aging population, the prevalence of chronic diseases, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), is increasing. Frailty is highly prevalent in this population and needs to be assessed to inform medical decisions. Choosing the optimal treatment pathway for elderly and frail patients with kidney failure is complex due to the presence of comorbidities associated with low survival rates and impaired quality of life. Multidisciplinary management involving healthcare professionals from various specialties is recommended. Current studies are mainly retrospective and observational, and lack adjustment for confounders or addressing biases, making it difficult to guide treatment decisions. Prospective studies and systematic reviews are needed to address these issues.

Summary: This paper introduces eristic decision-making in entrepreneurship. Eristic decision-making utilizes action-triggering shortcuts that draw on hedonic urges, which are not intendedly rational and ignore the consequences of actions. Eristic reasoning is adaptive under extreme uncertainty, providing new explanations about action in such conditions.

Summary: This study analyzed three major mathematical models used for policy making during the COVID-19 pandemic in Israel and compared them to actual data. The findings showed that while the models were accurate in predicting the number of confirmed cases, they were less successful in predicting critical cases and deaths. This highlights the challenges of relying on mathematical models as reliable tools for predicting and formulating strategies for dealing with the spread of an unknown disease.

Summary: Group-based conflict is influenced by psychological factors, and previous research has shown that group members tend to favor their own group and seek to benefit it rather than harm the opposition. However, individuals may choose to harm their own group rather than provide support to the opposing group in certain negative trade-off situations, which contradicts previous findings.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the relationship between thyroid hormone and bone mineral density (BMD) in euthyroid adults. Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2007-2010 were analyzed, and 3,759 euthyroid participants were included. The results showed that T4 exhibited a negative correlation with BMD, and there was a nonlinear relationship between thyroid hormone and BMD.

Summary: The study showed poor agreement between objective and subjective measures of frailty and physical function. Objective measures were associated with mortality, while subjective measures were associated with dialysis modality choice.

Summary: This study examines how patient spokespersons differentiate between surrogate decision-making and patient advocacy. The findings reveal substantial variability in how spokespersons conceptualize these roles, which may have implications for accurately assessing the association between ACP and outcomes.

Summary: The study found that approximately one-fifth of elderly patients with symptomatic severe AS did not undergo intervention, with half of these decisions being based on patients' subjective preferences. Surgical risk is the primary concern for physicians when making treatment decisions. The initial decisions of elderly patients against intervention have a significant impact on subsequent intervention rates and prognosis.

Summary: Effective long-term management is crucial in addressing the impacts of invasive alien species (IAS) that cannot be eradicated. Key international and transnational management policies often fail to bridge the gap between addressing IAS impacts and controlling IAS populations, highlighting the need for a broader and more effective set of tools to respond to the increasing impacts caused by IAS globally.

Summary: The agricultural sector in Canada has historically played a significant role in the economy, society, and culture, with a production value exceeding $100 billion and employing 2.3 million people. Public investment in agricultural science has supported steady growth in production, enabling Canadian agricultural goods to be available both domestically and for export, strengthening integration into global markets. Policy makers and agricultural scientists in Canada are increasingly focused on managing environmental externalities associated with agriculture to achieve sustainable intensification.

Summary: Intertemporal decision-making is often considered as a measure of self-control, but research shows that participants are not more confident when choosing delayed rewards. Instead, they have higher confidence in decisions with larger and closer rewards. These findings suggest that confidence in intertemporal choice is influenced by the uncertainty of possible rewards.

Summary: Recent research suggests that the Readiness Potential (RP) may reflect noise or conflict during the decision-making process, rather than decision uncertainty. Internally driven decisions tend to be more conflicted and uncertain, while externally driven actions are relatively more certain.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of an intervention to achieve shared decision making in patients' options for dialysis. The results showed that SDM was effective in deciding on dialysis treatment, and patients were satisfied with the decision-making process for dialysis methods.
