Summary: The gastrointestinal tract is frequently affected in individuals with systemic/localized scleroderma, leading to various GI manifestations and complications. Females are more susceptible to developing scleroderma, and esophageal and intestinal symptoms are common. Abnormal bowel movement and bacterial overgrowth contribute to malabsorption and increased mortality rate. Fecal incontinence is a common symptom that can lead to depression.

Summary: Neurologic music therapy (NMT) is a non-pharmacological approach that uses music to interact with motor, sensory, and cognitive dysfunctions caused by damage or diseases of the nervous system. This study critically evaluated the literature on the application of specific NMT techniques in rehabilitating geriatric disorders, with a focus on the RAS technique for PD and SP patients, showing significant improvements in gait parameters and balance.

Summary: This study provides a systematic review of the economic impact and healthcare resource utilization associated with systemic sclerosis (SSc). The findings indicate that SSc poses a significant economic burden on patients and healthcare resources, with the burden increasing with SSc-associated complications and varying depending on geographical location and access to healthcare resources.

Summary: Up to one-third of patients with COVID-19 experienced at least one neurologic manifestation in this review. 1 in 50 patients experienced stroke. In patients over 60 years of age, more than one-third had acute confusion/delirium; the presence of neurologic manifestations in this group was associated with nearly a doubling of mortality.

Summary: Neurologic care and research efforts for adults with cerebral palsy are crucial as the majority of people with CP are adults. They are at increased risk of new neurologic conditions that require ongoing monitoring to distinguish from baseline motor impairments, which may contribute to motor function decline, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue.

Summary: A systematic literature review found that intravenous iloprost, phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors, and atorvastatin are effective for the treatment of SSc digital ulcers. Bosentan can reduce the occurrence of future ulcers. Limited evidence supports the effectiveness of Janus kinase inhibitors, while immunosuppression or anti-platelet agents have insufficient data to support their use. Further research is needed to define the optimal treatment regimen.

Summary: This review examines neurologic manifestations in COVID-19 and investigates neuroimaging markers for early diagnosis and prognosis. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most commonly used method for observing neurologic injuries. The manifestations may result from direct viral infection or indirect mechanisms. However, further population studies are needed to evaluate neurologic manifestations in individuals with different severities of COVID-19.

Summary: Psoriasis is associated with oxidative stress, and the duration and severity of the disease are positively correlated with the concentration of oxidative stress markers. The crosstalk between psoriasis and oxidative stress is influenced by polymorphisms in genes related to redox balance. Further research should focus on evaluating oxidative stress biomarkers and studying the polymorphisms in genes regulating redox balance in psoriasis patients, as well as translating these findings into the management of psoriasis and understanding its pathogenesis.

Results indicate that customized VR provides greater improvements than traditional rehabilitation programs for patients with central nervous system diseases. However, due to the lack of high-quality studies and treatment protocol heterogeneity, clinical practice recommendations on the efficacy of VR cannot be made.

Summary: This study evaluated the usefulness of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-1-MRS) in distinguishing primary from secondary brain tumors. The results showed that secondary tumors had higher NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr ratios, with a good correlation between NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr. By constructing a logistic regression model, the nature of the tumor could be reasonably predicted.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of using texture analysis (TA) based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) likely to progress to temporomandibular joint damage. The results showed significant differences in texture parameters of the condyle between the JIA group and the control group, and a progressive loss of uniformity in grayscale pixels of MRI with increasing age in the JIA group.

Summary: Neuropsychiatric manifestations are common in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and are difficult to diagnose. Most patients experience these manifestations within the first two years of the disease, with 30-70% of them having multiple events during the course of the disease. These symptoms have significant impact on disability and mortality, but only a few biomarkers have been validated for diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and prognosis.

Summary: Fabry disease is a rare genetic disorder caused by a gene variant that leads to a deficiency in the enzyme alpha-galactosidase A. This deficiency causes the accumulation of a specific lipid in various organs, resulting in a wide range of clinical manifestations and potentially life-threatening complications such as cardiac arrhythmia, kidney failure, and stroke. This review provides an overview of the clinical features and current multidisciplinary management approaches for Fabry disease patients.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether systematic calibration improves the scoring proficiency of JAMRIS-SIJ and whether contrast-enhancement enhances its performance. The results showed that calibrated readers achieved greater reliability in scoring specific inflammatory and structural lesions. Sensitivity and reliability for scoring inflammatory lesions were higher on fluid-sensitive sequences compared to contrast-enhanced sequences. Therefore, systematic calibration should be implemented before using JAMRIS-SIJ in clinical trials, and it is unlikely that contrast-enhanced MRI will improve the performance of this method.
