Summary: Through a retrospective cohort study, we found that the 0.19-mg fluocinolone acetonide implant showed effectiveness in treating noninfectious uveitis in standard clinical practice. Additionally, administering high-dose corticosteroids before FAi can benefit patients with increased baseline uveitis activity.

Summary: Uveitic macular edema is a common cause of visual impairment in uveitis, with corticosteroids remaining as the main treatment option, but nonsteroidal immunomodulators and biologic agents are gaining popularity. Local therapy options, including intraocular delivery and sustained releasing implants, are being developed and evaluated in clinical trials to manage cystoid macular edema in uveitis.

Summary: The study found that nearly all uveitic macular edema can resolve with sufficient time and treatment, but relapse is common. Eyes with resolved macular edema had better visual acuity results, suggesting that controlling inflammation and resolving edema may be important treatment targets.

Summary: This study retrospectively followed up two BU patients with a history of BS for 2 and 10 years, respectively, and found that upadacitinib successfully treated BU, improving visual acuity, controlling intraocular inflammation, and resolving macular edema in both patients. One female patient showed mildly abnormal blood test results and slight liver enzyme elevation after 6 months of upadacitinib treatment, but no serious adverse events were reported in either patient during follow-up. Upadacitinib may be an important future option for managing recurrent and recalcitrant cases of BU, especially in patients with chronic ocular inflammation and macular edema resistant to conventional therapies.

Summary: The retrospective study examined data from seven patients, showing that pegylated interferon alfa-2A can improve inflammatory cystoid macular edema and also contribute to visual improvement. While some patients had to discontinue treatment due to side effects, the majority of patients showed sustained significant effects with low-dose continuous treatment.

Summary: The aim of this article is to comprehensively review the current role of pars plana vitrectomy in uveitis and its structural complications. The study was based on a comprehensive literature search on relevant articles. Therapeutic vitrectomy can aid in the treatment of uveitic structural complications, although visual outcomes may be unpredictable. Additionally, diagnostic vitrectomy is a valuable tool for assessing and diagnosing uveitis.

Summary: In patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the prevalence of treatment adherence is 59.1%, and is influenced by factors such as treatment prescribed, patient perception of treatment, receipt of information on treatment adaptation, and physician perception of patient trust. Psychological, communicational, and logistic factors have a greater impact on treatment adherence in RA than sociodemographic or clinical factors.

Summary: This study aimed to identify patient-centered domains with long-term relevance to people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Semi-structured individual cognitive interviews were conducted with RA patients from five different countries. Six main themes were identified, including living with symptoms and functional limitations, lack of participation, partner and family issues, risk of damage to vital organs, coping strategies, and healthcare concerns. These domains are seldom measured in longitudinal registries and should be considered in patient-centered longitudinal studies.

Summary: This study aimed to identify factors affecting the response rate to immunosuppressive drugs (ISDs) in patients with non-infectious uveitis (NIU). The results showed that uveitic macular edema at prescription and a higher oral corticosteroid dose in the year before ISD prescription were associated with a lower hazard for achieving good therapeutic response (GTR). On the other hand, prescribing cyclosporine and previous use of multiple ISDs were associated with higher GTR rates.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether systematic calibration improves the scoring proficiency of JAMRIS-SIJ and whether contrast-enhancement enhances its performance. The results showed that calibrated readers achieved greater reliability in scoring specific inflammatory and structural lesions. Sensitivity and reliability for scoring inflammatory lesions were higher on fluid-sensitive sequences compared to contrast-enhanced sequences. Therefore, systematic calibration should be implemented before using JAMRIS-SIJ in clinical trials, and it is unlikely that contrast-enhanced MRI will improve the performance of this method.
