Summary: Urban areas in the United States have been growing since the 1990s, and there is further projected growth. Recognizing sustainable urban forestry practices is crucial for enhancing the resilience and sustainability of cities. Current urban recognition systems lack robust verification procedures and detailed standardization compared to traditional forest certification systems, highlighting the need for a more comprehensive certification system in urban forestry.

Summary: Our study found that the emergent feature of closure facilitates discrimination of objects, but not holes with the same shape, and this effect was observed in the lateral occipital cortex (LOC) but not in the early visual cortex (EVC). Neural representations of objects with emergent features showed distinct patterns compared to others in LOC, indicating that object formation plays a crucial role in perceptual organization.

Summary: With projected climate change, urban spruce-dominated forests in southern Finland are at increasing risks of forest damages. Partial logging can successfully direct tree regeneration towards lower dominance of spruce, but gaps created may be filled primarily by shade-tolerant rowan trees. Urban forests may develop stand structures and tree species composition that are otherwise rare in the Fennoscandian boreal forests due to restricted ingrowth of rowan and other broad-leaved tree species in non-urban areas.

Summary: This article discusses three approaches for evaluating generalizability: falsificationism, confirmationism, and neo-operationalism. The author argues that the proposed neo-operationalism does not work for hypothetical concepts in psychology, as these concepts cannot be reduced to their operationalizations.

Summary: This article proves the non-existence of families of Enriques surfaces over the ring of integers, expanding on existing non-existence results for families of various geometric objects. The author's main approach involves studying the local system of numerical classes of invertible sheaves, and the results also depend on counting rational points, classification of rational elliptic surfaces, theory of exceptional Enriques surfaces, theory of Mordell-Weil lattices, and combinatorial study on genus-one fibrations.

Summary: Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, the origin of the virus has been heavily debated. The two main hypotheses, natural spillover and laboratory-leak origin, have supporters who build arguments against each other. However, the biased nature of the original question itself is the main problem. The origin of viruses is not determined, but rather a process of evolution and selection.

Summary: Sedated patients have varying levels of consciousness and perceptual connection, and disconnection is associated with changes in the electroencephalogram. Anaesthetists should be aware that unresponsive patients may still have partially disconnected consciousness activity.

Summary: This passage points out that quantification is crucial for psychology and is the foundation of its scientific status. Although some argue for the adoption of qualitative methods, inferential statistics are still necessary. Instead of discarding useful tools, the focus should be on using inferential statistics in a more thoughtful manner.

Summary: This article studies the properties of proper operator ideals. By extending the construction of Aiena and Gonzalez and analyzing the powers of X-S, it is proven that the ideal of inessential operators is not maximal among proper operator ideals, and that there is no largest proper operator ideal. It is also demonstrated that certain properties hold for general C-linear operators if and only if they hold for these operators seen as real.

Summary: The study found no weekend effect in trauma care in the United States, possibly due to the 24-hour in-house coverage in trauma care services in the country. This suggests that replicating this coverage schedule may help decrease the weekend effect in other specialties.

Summary: This study found an association between planting urban trees in Portland and neighborhood gentrification, with each tree being associated with a modest increase in median sales price after at least six years. The magnitude of this association increased as the time lag lengthened, and tree planting was not merely a proxy for existing tree cover, as an increase in tree canopy cover was independently associated with a rise in median sales price.

Summary: Clinical prediction models should be validated before implementation, as the performance of a model may vary across patient populations and measurement procedures. Validation studies should focus on understanding and quantifying heterogeneity and monitoring performance over time, to ensure that prediction models remain up-to-date and safe for clinical decision-making.
