Summary: The study conducted a systematic review on the effect of treatment combining 9300 nm carbon dioxide lasers and fluoride in preventing enamel caries. The results showed that the combination treatment was more effective in preventing enamel demineralization compared to fluoride treatment or laser treatment alone.

Summary: In this study, a novel bioactive glass-ceramic (NBGC) prepared through a sol-gel process was investigated for its anti-demineralization and remineralization effects. The results showed that NBGC had greater acid resistance, remineralization potential, and demonstrated efficient bioactivity through the fast formation of a hydroxy carbonate apatite (HCA) layer.

Summary: The study showed that higher concentrations of arginine in 5% sodium fluoride varnish can modulate the biochemical composition of biofilm on treated enamel. There were differences in carbohydrate, protein, amyloid, and eDNA content in biofilms treated with 2% and 4% Arg-NaF compared to controls. Additionally, the proportion of biofilm EPS matrix to bacteria was reduced in Arg-NaF groups.

Summary: The study demonstrated that reapplication of CPP-ACP fluoride varnish every 4-6 weeks is more effective in reducing enamel demineralization compared to every 12 weeks. Significant differences were found in the changes of demineralization area and impact among different time intervals, while intensity remained relatively stable.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the preventive effects of experimental nano silver fluoride (NSF) formulation and commercial sodium fluoride varnish (FV) on the demineralization of primary teeth enamel. The results showed that both NSF and FV significantly improved the microhardness and reduced lesion depth in comparison to the negative controls. NSF and FV demonstrated similar effectiveness in limiting enamel demineralization caused by acidic challenge.

Summary: This in vitro study aimed to assess the anti-erosive effects of SnF2 and CPP-ACP individually and synergistically by characterizing erosive enamel wear at the nanoscale. The results demonstrated that SnF2/CPP-ACP has superior anti-erosive potential compared to SnF2 or CPP-ACP alone.

Summary: The study showed that curettage plus Er:YAG laser irradiation was the most effective method for removing bacteria and lipopolysaccharide. There was no significant difference in fibroblast adhesion between the control group and the group receiving combined treatment. The use of Er:YAG laser irradiation in conjunction with curettage optimized lipopolysaccharide clearance and fibroblast adhesion on titanium discs.

Summary: This study used the ONT third-generation sequencing system to identify pathogens from subgingival dental plaque in patients with periodontitis and validated the impact of a selected pathogen in periodontitis progression using a mouse model. The results showed that Scardovia wiggsiae (S. wiggsiae) was dominant in the subgingival plaque of the patients and significantly worsened the symptoms of periodontitis in the mouse model.

Summary: This study aimed to create zinc (Zn)-, strontium (Sr)-, and magnesium (Mg)-multidoped hydroxyapatite (HAp) porous coatings on titanium discs and implants using the VIPF-APS technique. The results showed that the Zn-Sr-Mg-HAp group exhibited the most effective induction of osteogenesis-associated genes expression and antibacterial effects against periodontal bacteria. Moreover, histologic and micro-CT analysis demonstrated that the Zn-Sr-Mg-HAp group had the most prominent osteogenesis and bone growth along implant threads. Therefore, porous Zn-Sr-Mg-HAp coating using VIPF-APS could be a novel technique for coating titanium implant surfaces and preventing bacterial infection.
