Summary: The biodiversity crisis is a significant challenge, and education plays a crucial role in equipping citizens with the knowledge and critical thinking skills to understand and respond to this issue. Teachers have the responsibility to introduce biodiversity concepts and foster respect for living beings among their students. It is found that people generally struggle to identify certain species, especially those that are closer in proximity but less known due to limited media exposure. The recognition and identification abilities of pre-service teachers regarding vertebrates in their immediate environment were examined in this research, highlighting the need for additional content on closer species and the environment.

Summary: The natural characteristics of tree hollows make them an ideal location to study species coexistence and competition. This study found evidence of interspecific competition in tree hollow spider assemblages in Mediterranean forests, as well as spatial aggregations and segregations between species with different traits. The results suggest that interspecific competition plays a role in shaping the structure of tree hollow spider assemblages.

Summary: Plants exhibit phenotypic plasticity in response to both biotic and abiotic changes. This study evaluated the influence of plant age and leaf age on leaf traits and their relationship with defoliation in three forage plant species. The results showed variations in leaf thickness, leaf area, and leaf hardness among different plant species. Young leaves were negatively associated with leaf thickness, leaf hardness, and leaf dry weight, while specific leaf area and leaf hardness showed positive relationships with defoliation. This research highlights the importance of understanding the interrelationships between leaf structure, function, and morphological traits in tropical forage plants.

Summary: This study presents a detailed account of unexpected gas content encountered during the drilling of a hydrogeological well, and the subsequent interference management measures taken to mitigate gas invasion. By providing drilling records and a simulated model, the study reveals the interference relationship between hydrogeological and gas resources.

Summary: The recognition and classification of Mexican troglobitic Rhamdia species are primarily based on morphological characteristics and geographic distribution, but external morphology and regressive troglomorphic traits do not provide clear differential diagnoses among these species. The continued recognition of troglobitic species implies a deep and generalized paraphyly in R. laticauda.
