Summary: OpenMRS is an open source medical record system with a global reach, making a positive impact on healthcare delivery efficiency, data quality, and decision-making processes. However, challenges such as technical constraints and inadequate staff training were identified during implementation, highlighting the need for solutions to ensure successful deployments. Continued investment in the development of OpenMRS is necessary to maintain and expand its impact.

Summary: Since 1972, the Landsat program has provided 50 years of digital, multispectral, medium spatial resolution observations, playing a crucial role in scientific and technical advancements. The program's early years brought technological breakthroughs and established a template for global Earth observation missions. The knowledge gained from Landsat has been recognized for its economic and scientific value, leading to continuous improvement and increased usage through the introduction of free and open access to data.

Summary: This paper provides an overview of the Bretton Woods system and its collapse, as well as the emergence of the current global non-system. It discusses how the objectives set by John Maynard Keynes for a well-functioning international economic system are now pursued in a different manner. The paper also examines long-term challenges facing the non-system, such as the global demographic transition, productivity growth slowdown, and the need for renewable energy investment. Additionally, it explores policy issues related to international capital flows and the potential need for a sovereign debt reconstruction mechanism, and analyzes the impact of the European Monetary Union and China's rise on the global landscape. The importance of leadership in the global non-system is also emphasized.

Summary: Despite the existence of laws prohibiting discrimination against disabled Americans in healthcare, they still face disparities in health and healthcare. This article examines disability inequities in six areas and suggests the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as a solution to improve their health and dignity and support their full participation in the community.

Summary: This study analyzed the quantity and impact of cardiovascular research in Africa, as well as the determinants and patterns of research collaboration. It found that despite progress, the output of cardiovascular research from African authors remains low. Therefore, urgent measures are needed to improve the quantity and quality of cardiovascular research in Africa, including increased investments, human resource training, improved infrastructures, and expanded collaborative research networks, particularly within Africa.

Summary: Biobased energy, particularly corn-based ethanol and other renewable fuels, is an important component of energy policies in the US. However, corn ethanol fails to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to petroleum fuels and has various negative impacts such as nitrogen leaching, higher food prices, water scarcity, and indirect land use change. Using a partial equilibrium model, this paper analyzes the potential of reducing US demand for corn as a biobased energy feedstock to mitigate negative effects on land use, nitrogen leaching, and crop production from 2020 to 2050. The study suggests that a reduction of 24% in demand can maintain the levels of land use and nitrogen leaching below those of 2020 until 2025, and a reduction of 41% can do so until 2030. The results are similar across major watersheds with intensive corn and soy farming.

Summary: In 1873, J.C. Maxwell derived relations for current density and current in a solitary long cylindrical conductor supplied with variable current. The skin effect, which refers to the increase of current density towards the conductor surface, and the proximity effect, which is the dependence of current density on the proximity of other conductors, are two phenomena closely related to each other. Understanding the current density in conductors, especially in a group of conductors, is of fundamental significance for analyzing and describing these phenomena.

Summary: There have been major advances in promoting mental health and well-being in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) over the past two decades. Now, high-income countries (HIC) are also looking to adopt similar strategies. It is crucial for projects in different global settings to learn from one another to overcome shared challenges.

Summary: The study investigates the trends in endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) use, outcomes, and disparities among patients aged 80 years and older compared to younger patients with acute ischemic stroke. The use of EVT increased among elderly patients from 2012 to 2019, although it remained lower than in younger patients. Older patients had worse functional outcomes at discharge, but the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage was not increased.
