Summary: The study compared the observable riding behaviors of food delivery and private bicycle riders, finding that helmet use was higher for food delivery riders, especially male riders on electric bikes. The use of handheld mobile phones varied by company and time of day. Running red lights was common, especially among riders on the sidewalk and those riding against traffic. Company policies and infrastructure were found to be more important determinants than whether the rider was a food delivery rider or private rider.

Summary: Brazil had a high number of maternal deaths and delays in healthcare. This study evaluated the characteristics and outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnant women. The results showed that non-white ethnicity, low education level, overweight or obesity, public prenatal care, planned pregnancies, postpartum infection, chronic hypertension, pre-existing diabetes, asthma, and anemia were associated with a higher risk for SARS. The availability of tests and maternal outcomes varied throughout the study.

Summary: The research identified challenges in science communication in two Federal Institutes of Education in Brazil, with a lack of coordination between journalists, communicators, and researchers. Building better relationships, establishing a science communication plan, and overcoming internal barriers were highlighted as key challenges to be addressed. The results could inform science communication policies at institutional or even national levels.

Summary: Brazil is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, but its biodiversity potential remains untapped. To change this, Brazil needs to recognize and harness the power of its biodiversity, focusing on industry, science and technology, biological conservation, ecosystem maintenance, ecotourism, and sustainable development of local populations. Joint action from the Brazilian population and scientific community is crucial, along with the election of politicians committed to sustainable development and increased research and technology based on Brazilian biodiversity. The article also highlights other reasons for preserving Brazilian biodiversity, such as intrinsic, cultural, and ethical values. Finally, it argues for Brazil to reclaim its global leadership in the environmental agenda and leverage its biological diversity as a source of Soft Power and sustainable bio-based economy.

Summary: This study analyzes the characteristics and development of Brazilian research on women's and gender studies. The results show that the research in this field initially focused on health sciences and was conducted by institutions in the Southeast and South of Brazil. However, since the 1990s, there has been a shift towards research from the human and social sciences. The volume of articles, collaboration, and research has grown throughout the country, although it is still concentrated in the Southeast and South. The presence of women's and gender studies in top-rated Brazilian journals indicates its scientific consolidation.

Summary: The rapid growth of the delivery service market in Korea due to COVID-19 has led to an increase in crashes involving delivery motor scooters. Measures to improve the traffic safety of these scooters are insufficient, despite the continuous growth of the food delivery service industry. This study derived precursors to detect risky riding events using real-world data and found three salient riding risk precursors with a classification accuracy of 95.7%, which can contribute to enhancing the safety of food delivery motor scooters.

Summary: This study, based on population surveys in the four largest German cities, found that protest participation decisions are influenced by expectations about other people's attendance. The findings show that individual decisions to participate are strategic substitutes, meaning individuals are less likely to participate if they expect high turnout.

Summary: This study evaluates the outcomes of cochlear implantation in patients with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss due to inner ear malformations (IEMs) compared to patients without IEMs. The study found that patients with IEMs have a higher risk of intraoperative complications and may have less favorable audiological outcomes compared to patients without IEMs. Precautionary measures such as preoperative imaging and proper counseling are recommended in this population.

Summary: This review summarizes the distribution, ecology, fisheries, and conservation of the dog snapper in the Brazilian Province. The study finds that the dog snapper is most abundant on the northeastern Brazilian coast, while being scarce or absent in other regions. To manage the fisheries of the dog snapper, the review suggests participatory mapping, slot size limit regulation, and citizen science-based monitoring.

Summary: Educational indicators are used to evaluate the quality of the educational system and their impact is often associated with economic and social factors. This study aimed to assess factors related to school performance using a dataset from Brazilian schools, generating different models to predict performance. The non-linear model was found to predict the best performance, and the heterogeneity of variable importance across school cycles and regions could help inform the development of public educational policies.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between risky riding behaviors (unhelmeted riding, drunk riding, unlicensed riding) and running-off-road (ROR) crashes. The results showed that unhelmeted riding increased the risk of drunk riding and unlicensed riding, and the risk of unhelmeted riding and ROR crashes increased with blood alcohol concentrations. These findings highlight the importance of addressing these risky riding behaviors to prevent crashes.

Summary: This paper develops a contingent claim framework for two insurers and evaluates their equities. It shows that the carbon-emission externality leads to a free-riding issue, where life insurance policyholders become free riders when either carbon-linked or conventional investment returns increase. However, the cost burden of policyholder protection reduces the insurer interest margin.
