Summary: The study found that patients with PsA exhibit levels of PA similar to healthy controls, but disease activity in PsA patients is inversely correlated with PA. The evaluation of PA using accelerometry is sensitive to changes in disease activity.

Summary: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have worse right ventricular (RV) function, as measured by TAPSE, and a lower TAPSE to RVSP ratio compared to controls. Additionally, RA patients with mild echocardiographic pulmonary hypertension (ePH) exhibit reduced right ventricular-pulmonary arterial coupling compared to those with normal RVSP. These findings suggest the need for aggressive treatment and monitoring of RA patients with cardiac issues.

Summary: Physical activity (PA) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is considered a lifelong behavior influenced by the disease. Patients perceive the impact of the disease on their health and engage in PA by increasing awareness, enhancing body awareness, and seeking social support. This meta-synthesis provides insights for tailoring PA support to individual drivers and determinants in clinical practice, benefiting both health professionals and RA patients.

Summary: In patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), chronic inflammation can lead to muscle depletion. The study found that sarcopenia is more common in RA patients and is associated with factors such as body weight, BMI, inflammation markers, and disease duration.

Summary: The study did not find evidence of increased cardiovascular risk with tofacitinib in patients with RA in a real-world setting. However, tofacitinib was associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular outcomes, although statistically non-significant, in patients with RA with cardiovascular risk factors.

Summary: Circulating free-cell miRNAs have become increasingly important as potential non-invasive biomarkers, particularly in the field of oncology. This research aimed to investigate the association between selected miRNAs in serum and the expression of Th17/Treg transcription factors, as well as clinical features, in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. The study found that miR-10 was only detected in RA patients and its expression was correlated with IL-35 serum concentration and STAT5a mRNA level. Additionally, miR-326 was significantly upregulated in RA patients with rheumatoid factor presence. The differential association of transcription factor expression with serum miRNA levels may have implications for the diagnosis and progression of RA and osteoarthritis (OA).

Summary: Patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases do not have an increased risk for COVID-19 compared to the general population. Older age and obesity are major risk factors for hospitalization for COVID-19 in patients with IRD, while the use of methotrexate may have a protective effect in reducing the risk of hospitalization.

Summary: The presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the lower respiratory tract was associated with the subsequent incidence of pneumonia in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Decision tree analysis indicated that P. aeruginosa and patient performance status were two important factors for predicting the incidence of pneumonia.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) patients and its associations with cardiovascular risk biomarkers, physical activity, and subclinical atherosclerosis. The results showed that MetS was present in approximately one-fourth of APS patients and was associated with arterial thrombosis, cardiovascular risk biomarkers, physical activity, and subclinical atherosclerosis. This suggests that MetS plays an important role in cardiovascular risk stratification and management in APS.

Summary: This study reveals the genetic differences between Prevotella copri (P. copri(RA)) derived from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and P. copri (P. copri(HC)) derived from healthy controls. The results show that P. copri(RA) induces more severe inflammation in arthritis models and can activate host immune cells. These findings contribute to the understanding of the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis.
