Summary: There is significant variation in the methodology and outcome measures used to diagnose Achilles tendinopathy. Subjective measures include self-reported location of pain and pain with tendon loading activities, while objective measures consist of tendon palpation and tendon pain during loading activities. The VISA-A questionnaire is commonly used as an outcome measure for monitoring Achilles tendinopathy.

Summary: Insertional Achilles tendinopathy is a common condition that causes chronic and debilitating heel pain in athletes and nonathletes. Treatment options include conservative and surgical approaches, with the choice depending on the individual patient's condition.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate if patients with midportion AT have symptoms at 10-year follow-up. The study found that 19% of patients still had persisting symptoms after 10 years. Furthermore, the study also showed that the VISA-A score and sports activity level improved at the 10-year follow-up.

Summary: The study found that regardless of pathology, 47-63% of Achilles tendons responded to exercise with an immediate acute physiological IBF increase, with symptomatic tendons showing a higher baseline IBF and prolonged IBF response.

Summary: Low-volume HIIT, involving short bouts of high-intensity exercise, has shown to provide similar, or even greater, health benefits compared to traditional aerobic exercises. The improvements seen in cardiorespiratory health, glucose control, and cardiac function may be attributed to enhanced mitochondrial function and insulin sensitivity. Additionally, low-volume HIIT is well-tolerated and safe for adults, with high exercise adherence rates and minimal adverse effects reported.

Summary: Physical inactivity and aging can cause tendon deterioration, which is a significant public health concern. The effects of exercise training on tendon function are being studied, with a focus on high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in this research. The mRNA expression in rat Achilles tendons was used to evaluate the impact of HIIT on tendon progression.

Summary: Male elite cyclists with average VO2-max of 71 mL/min/kg underwent 7 weeks of high-intensity interval training during the competitive season. The study evaluated the effects of maintaining or reducing total training volume combined with high-intensity interval training. The results showed improvements in time-trial performance for both the reduced and maintained training volume groups, but no significant improvement in preloaded time-trials. This study demonstrates that elite cyclists can benefit from intensified training during the competitive season, regardless of training volume.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) on the quality of life (QOL) and mental health (MH) of patients with cardiovascular disease (CVDs). The study found that both HIIT and MICT had similar effects on QOL and MH in CVD patients. However, HIIT showed significant improvements in physical component summary (PCS) for coronary artery disease (CAD) patients and performed better in physical role, vitality, and social function compared to MICT.

Summary: This study compared the effects of two different RPE prescription approaches on adherence rates, body composition, performance, and satisfaction in an online resistance training intervention. The fixed-repetition group and open-repetition group showed similar improvements in body composition and physical capacities, with high satisfaction rates reported. However, adherence rates declined over the course of the study, suggesting the need for additional strategies to maintain participant engagement.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the effects of time and baseline measures of tendon health on outcomes among patients with varying symptom durations after 16 weeks of comprehensive exercise treatment. The results showed that symptom duration did not influence baseline measures of tendon health. Additionally, no differences were observed among the different symptom duration groups in response to 16 weeks of exercise therapy and pain-guided activity modification.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the acute physiological, perceived exertion, and enjoyment responses between 4-week progressive basketball small-sided games (SSG) and high-intensity interval training (HIT). The results showed that SSG was more enjoyable and had higher levels of enjoyment compared to HIT. Although there were no significant differences in heart rate and perceived exertion between the two training approaches, SSG was perceived as more enjoyable and therefore potentially more motivating and adherence-promoting.

Summary: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a time-efficient approach that increases exercise adherence and improves health. This study compared the efficiency of a HIIT regime with a traditional long-duration Moderate-Intensity Continuous Training (MICT) regime in improving VO2 max of overweight untrained men. The results showed that HIIT was superior to MICT in increasing VO2 max.
