Summary: P. malacophyllum may have potential in alleviating symptoms of primary dysmenorrhoea by reducing pain, inflammation, and uterine spasms. The isolated compounds and extracts were found to decrease abdominal writhing, neutrophil chemotaxis, and inflammatory mediator release, while attenuating neutrophil and mast cell infiltration in the uterus of mice with primary dysmenorrhoea.
