Summary: The prevalence of anti-DFS70 autoantibodies in healthy individuals and patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases in Japan is similar, but higher than in other Asian regions. The presence of anti-DFS70 antibodies complicates the differential diagnosis of autoimmune rheumatic diseases through antinuclear antibody screening.

Summary: The analytical performance of the immunoblot assay for detecting anti-Ro60 was evaluated, with the counterimmunoelectrophoresis method as the gold standard. The study found that the immunoblot assay has high sensitivity and specificity for anti-Ro60 detection. However, the survey of international laboratories revealed that many of them use the manufacturer's recommended cutoff, which may result in missed detection of this clinically important autoantibody.

Summary: This study reports a case of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN) in a patient with concurrent rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and Sjogren's syndrome (SS), characterized by double positivity in anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) antibodies and perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (p-ANCA). The patient showed significant improvement and renal function recovery after aggressive treatment.

Summary: Patients with myositis who have anti-NXP2 antibodies may present with different phenotypes and prognoses, with some patients not exhibiting rashes during disease progression and others experiencing dysphagia and interstitial lung disease. Hierarchical cluster analysis also identified two distinct patient clusters, with one cluster characterized by younger age of onset, subcutaneous calcification, and the other cluster associated with a higher frequency of ILD, lower lymphocyte levels, and higher serum ferritin levels, and worse prognosis.

Summary: This study investigated the presence of autoantibodies in the sera of bariatric-surgery patients and found that 29.1% of the patients had antinuclear antibodies (ANA) preoperatively, which decreased to 10.1% postoperatively. There were no differences in epidemiological or anthropometric measurements between preoperative ANA-positive and negative patients, but ANA-positive patients had lower serum vitamin D levels.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic performance of anti-CCP2 and anti-CCP3 IgG and IgA assays in patients with early RA, with a focus on the prognostic value of IgA ACPA. The results showed that the anti-CCP2 IgG and IgA assays had high specificity but low sensitivity. The anti-CCP3.1 assay had slightly higher sensitivity but lower specificity compared to the anti-CCP2 IgG assay.

Summary: Endometriosis is a gynecologic disorder affecting up to 10% of women in reproductive age, characterized by the presence of endometrium-like tissue outside of normal location. Research suggests dysfunction of the immune system, including the complement system, in endometriosis. Dysregulation of the complement system in endometriosis has been observed, with altered serum levels of complement proteins compared to non-affected individuals, indicating a potential role in the inflammatory pathogenesis of the disease.

Schirmer test results were associated with age, female gender, and percentage of body fat, while TBUT test results were only associated with age.

The survey revealed differences in epidemiologic characteristics between LB and heterosexual groups, with differences in morbid antecedents only in endometriosis, vaginismus, and polycystic ovary syndrome. Most LB Brazilian women are dissatisfied with treatment received from gynecologists.

Summary: The study revealed that diabetic patients had decreased capillary density and increased dilatation in nailfold capillaroscopy compared to controls. Capillary density correlated with age, retinopathy, use of antiplatelet medication, HbA1c, microalbuminuria, and diabetes duration. Dilatations were associated with retinopathy, glomerular filtration rate, and longer disease duration.
