Summary: This article investigates the fundamental issues surrounding rating scales and highlights the problems and crises in psychology research. It suggests developing explicit metatheory and unambiguous terminology, as well as theories that focus on individuals as complex self-organizing systems. The article emphasizes the need for methods that are adapted to the peculiarities of psychological phenomena and advocates for transdisciplinary research to address the crises in psychology.

Summary: Direct Behavior Rating (DBR) is an efficient method for monitoring changes in student behavior in response to intervention, with DBR Multi-Item Scales (DBR-MIS) showing promising characteristics as a progress-monitoring assessment. The study aimed to develop and validate DBR-MIS problem behavior scales, which can be used to evaluate students' response to social-emotional or behavioral intervention. Further implications for progress monitoring and future research are discussed.

Summary: Tourette syndrome (TS) is characterized by vocal and motor tics, often accompanied by psychiatric comorbidities. Differential diagnosis between tics and OCD-related phenomena can be challenging, as some symptoms may overlap. "Just right" phenomena are common in patients with TS, showing similarities with both tics and OCD. Treatment strategies for tics and OCD in TS patients should take into consideration these complexities.

Summary: This study explores the association between psychiatric symptoms following COVID-19 and demographic, disease-related and premorbid clinical confounders. The results suggest that depression, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms are common in post-COVID-19 patients and are likely to be unrelated to disease-related and premorbid features.

Summary: Racial attitudes, beliefs, and motivations play a crucial role in theories of prejudice and discrimination. The accuracy of these theories in explaining behavior relies on accurate measurement of these latent constructs. In our study, we evaluated the validity of 25 race-related scales and found that while they showed adequate internal reliability, many of them had poor model fit and failed to capture their intended latent constructs. Moreover, our findings suggest that the theoretical space of racial prejudice is saturated with scales that may not effectively capture distinct latent constructs.

Summary: The study investigated how patients with bipolar disorder responded to anxiety scales and proposed future improvements to anxiety assessments. Results showed that BD outpatients had difficulty differentiating response options for the majority of items, leading to rescoring or deletion of some items. The final model, a unidimensional approach, maintained appropriate associations with depression, suicidality, and hypomania.

Summary: This study presents the third version of the guideline for the pharmacological treatment of anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, and posttraumatic stress disorders. It provides recommendations based on efficacy and acceptability of available treatments, evaluated through rigorous methods. Summary: To identify infants with developmental delays, the city of Rio de Janeiro conducted a large-scale assessment using the ASQ:SE. The study found that lack of voluntary interest was the most discriminative risk behavior in the first 5 years, and it was also the most persistent. Difficulty making eye contact was nearly as informative as lack of interest. Lack of voluntary interest and difficulty making eye contact may be predictive of children's delays.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether a genetic feature associated with bipolar disorder can be found in individuals without bipolar disorder but with hyperactivity/exploration traits. The results showed that individuals with hyperactivity/exploration traits but without bipolar disorder were similar to those with bipolar disorder in terms of the frequency of the genetic variant. However, they were different from individuals without both hyperactivity/exploration traits and bipolar disorder. This suggests that considering the genetic profile of bipolar disorder as not an aberrant condition could lead to a new approach that emphasizes the adaptive potential in psychosocial treatment.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of a Cognitive Remediation (CR) intervention using fully immersive Virtual Reality (VR) as an additional treatment for bipolar disorder (BD) and provides preliminary data on its efficacy. The results showed significant improvements in cognitive functions, depressive symptoms, emotional awareness, and biological rhythms in the experimental group compared to the control group. Although the sample size was small, these results provide promising evidence of efficacy and acceptability, highlighting the need for larger studies to confirm these findings.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine if individuals with a positive score on the Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) but without comorbidity of mood disorders would have a lower Health-related Quality of life (HRQol) compared to a control group of MDQ negatives. The results showed that MDQ-positive individuals without mood disorders had significantly lower scores on the SF-12, indicating worse HRQol. This suggests the presence of a specific syndrome, Dysregulation of Mood, Energy, and Social Rhythms Syndrome (DYMERS), which may be a trigger for other psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder.

Summary: Studies have shown that anxiety disorder and chronic pain, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and neuropathic pain, often coexist. Cannabidiol (CBD) has shown promise as a treatment for these conditions. This study investigated the effects of chronic CBD treatment on pain in rats with high- and low-freezing anxiety levels (GAD model) and control rats with chronic neuropathic pain. The results showed that CBD had an anti-allodynic effect on mechanical and thermal pain thresholds in all rat groups, but the effect was weaker in rats with high- and low-freezing anxiety. CBD treatment also demonstrated an anxiolytic effect in control and high-freezing anxiety rats with chronic neuropathic pain and increased mobility in low-freezing anxiety rats without nerve injury. These findings suggest that the mechanical and emotional effects of CBD may be influenced by anxiety levels.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has had unprecedented effects on people's mental health, leading to increased rates of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. It has particularly affected individuals and communities with low income and socioeconomic status. A study conducted in a social clinic in Rio de Janeiro found that family dynamics, communication factors, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, and losses were the main reasons patients sought psychological treatment during the pandemic.
