Summary: A computational model of high-current pulsed arc discharge in air is proposed and validated for low to moderate current discharges. The model accurately predicts most characteristics of the discharge even for high current amplitudes, with good agreement between simulation results and experimental data. The pinch effect is found to be significant for currents higher than 100 kA.

Summary: This study experimentally investigates high-voltage electrical pulses with magnitudes of up to 200 kV generated in water. These pulses result from the saturation of water samples by less powerful pulses with magnitudes of 10 kV and higher frequency. The pulse generation process involves the release of hydrogen from water into the environment. Additionally, a combination of two dischargers generates electricity with power exceeding the input power. A hypothetical mechanism based on the successive acts of proton acceleration and thermalization is proposed. The results of wastewater treatment using the generated high-voltage pulses are also presented.

Summary: This paper analyses the collaboration between a GlidArc-type plasma reactor and four dedicated power supplies. Each power supply has a different design solution. Plasma generation by electrical discharge requires careful analysis of power supply design and operating characteristics. The results show that different power supply parameters lead to different plasma reactor performance characteristics. An optimally designed power supply should combine the solutions contained in each of the power supplies tested.

Summary: Plasma technology plays an important role in nanoparticle synthesis and modification. Pulsed arc discharge technique offers flexibility and a wide range of plasma parameters, making it suitable for the synthesis of high-quality stand-alone nanomaterials. The periodic variations in the pulsing arc plasma enable more rational use of the supplied power for nanosynthesis.

Summary: This study investigates the production of hydrogen-rich syngas from ethanol/water mixtures using pulsed electrodeless discharge. The research has found that high peak voltage and appropriate electrode distance are crucial for achieving high yield and efficiency. The main components of the produced gas are H2 and CO, with H2 generation being a key factor influencing CO production.

Summary: A new heat conduction simulation model was established considering the SiC particle-Al matrix interface and phase change effects in a single-pulsed arc discharge of SiCp/Al composites. The model was validated through temperature distribution analysis and explanations of interface thermal resistance and latent heat contributions. The study improves simulation accuracy and provides insights into the machining mechanism of SiCp/Al composites in arc discharge machining.

Summary: A dielectric-boosted gliding arc discharge (DBGAD) reactor was developed to enhance plasma processing capability. It investigated the electrical, gliding arc motion, and energy injection characteristics. By situating a 50mm quartz dielectric underneath the plasma area, a higher discharge power and extended arc gliding time were achieved. Compared to gliding arc discharge (GAD), DBGAD demonstrated a 27% increase in arc stabilization gliding time and 1.12 times superior average discharge power.

Summary: This study evaluates the effectiveness of arc and pulsed spark plasma discharges in inactivating pathogenic microorganisms. The results show that these discharge systems are effective in inactivating pathogenic microorganisms, with higher effectiveness observed on bacterial strains. Moreover, the pulsed spark discharge treatment enhances the reduction of pathogenic cells more than the arc discharge treatment, likely due to the generation of discharge streamers on the water surface.

Summary: The complete flow structure and composition of the flow structure generated by Pulsed Surface Arc Discharge in a Magnetic Field (M-PSAD) are vital for understanding the plasma application mechanism. The experimental results demonstrate that M-PSAD can generate plasma clusters and detonation waves. The thermal motion of charged particles in the plasma cluster is the main cause of the thermal effect of arc discharge. The detonation wave consists of a shock wave, Taylor expansion wave, and two different thickness zones of charged particles. These experimental results provide a profound understanding of the physical mechanism behind plasma application.
