Summary: Sjogren's syndrome is a potentially treatable cause of Small Fiber Neuropathy (SFN). This study found no significant differences in symptoms and cerebrospinal fluid parameters between SFN patients with and without Sjogren's syndrome. However, SFN patients with Sjogren's syndrome had lower intraepidermal nerve fiber densities, suggesting a different pathomechanism.

Summary: This study investigates the risk factors for interstitial lung disease (ILD) in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS). The findings suggest that age, Raynaud's phenomenon, lymphopenia, cough, dyspnoea and rampant dental caries are associated with ILD in pSS patients. HRCT reveals common abnormalities, such as ground glass opacities and septal/sub pleural lines. It is important to systematically evaluate pSS patients with advanced age, dry cough and dyspnoea for ILD involvement.

Summary: Lung involvement in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome includes emphysema, tracheobronchial alterations, and interstitial lung disease. The study found that a majority of pSS patients had impaired gas exchange, with a reduction in DLCO values, and emphysema was the most common pulmonary injury observed.

Summary: This study investigated serum biomarkers associated with interstitial lung disease (ILD) in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS). The results showed that patient age, disease duration, and serum levels of KL-6 and TNF alpha were the most discriminating factors associated with the presence of ILD in pSS patients. Additionally, elevated levels of CRP, IgM, eotaxin, TGF alpha, and TNF alpha were also found to be associated with pSS-ILD. These findings have important clinical implications for the diagnosis and treatment of pSS-ILD.

Summary: A predictive score for acute exacerbation of idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (AE-IIPs) was designed based on clinical factors. The HAL score can discriminate the risk of AE-IIPs and aid in the management of IIPs.

Summary: Interstitial lung diseases are a complex group of diseases with unclear causes and mechanisms of progression. Recent research suggests that the lung microbiome may play a role in the development and progression of these diseases. However, the specific mechanisms are not yet understood. This review aims to discuss the role of altered lung microbiome in various interstitial lung diseases. Understanding the interaction between the host and microbiome in the lungs is a priority for research on these diseases.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the clinical value of KL-6, CEA, and CA153 in patients with pSS complicated with ILD. Results showed that the levels of KL-6, CEA, and CA153 were significantly higher in patients with pSS-ILD compared to those without ILD and healthy controls. KL-6 was negatively correlated with lung function and was an independent factor associated with pSS-ILD.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the clinical validity of early Sjogren's syndrome autoantibodies for juvenile SS. Results showed that early SS autoantibodies had lower sensitivity and specificity, and could not effectively differentiate between JSS and non-JSS.

Summary: This study aimed to compare clinical and proteomic predictors of primary Sjogren's syndrome (SjS) and non-SjS sicca syndrome (sicca), and identify the key predictors of symptoms. The results showed that obesity-related metabolic factors may regulate symptoms in sicca, while further research is needed to explore the non-inflammatory drivers of high symptom burden in SjS.

Summary: RNA sequencing in the minor salivary glands of pSS patients revealed significantly elevated levels of CXCR2 in patients with ILD, which was strongly associated with lung function, inflammatory markers, and disease activity index. This suggests that CXCR2 may serve as a useful index for disease activity in ILD associated with pSS.

Summary: The study investigated the clinical outcomes and risk factors associated with progressive fibrosing interstitial lung disease (PF-ILD) in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome-associated interstitial lung disease (pSjS-ILD). It was found that persistent lower albumin levels may be a risk factor for PF-ILD and the PF-ILD group had poorer 3-year survival outcomes. Early lung function tests could be helpful for the early detection of PF-ILD.

Summary: This study found that IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-a levels were higher in pSS patients, while IL-10 levels were lower. Patients with ILD in pSS had higher levels of IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-a, and lower levels of IL-10 compared to those without ILD. The ROC curve analysis suggested that IL-10 had the highest diagnostic value among the cytokines studied.

Summary: This study demonstrated that using EBUS-GS for TBB is an effective and safe method for diagnosing PPLs in patients with ILD. Compared to conventional TBB, EBUS-GS TBB showed a higher diagnostic yield in small lesions, lesions in the lower lobes, lesions with a positive bronchus sign, and lesions visible on chest radiography.
