Summary: This study found that NCE-MRA performed at 3 T can better visualize uterine arteries compared to 1.5 T before uterine artery embolization, but there was no significant difference in the detection of enlarged ovarian arteries between the two field strengths.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the future diagnosis of malignancy in women who undergo nonsurgical treatment for uterine fibroid disease with interventional radiology (IR) procedures. The study found that the proportion of patients who were diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma after conservative IR treatments appears to be higher than previously reported.

Summary: Urgent percutaneous embolization is shown to be effective and safe in treating acute renal hemorrhage, with high rates of bleeding control and clinical success. Preoperative elevated creatinine and decreased GFR are risk factors for postoperative AKI.

Summary: Interventional oncology (IO) procedures are highly popular in interventional radiology (IR) and are crucial for the diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care of cancer patients. Vascular approaches involve embolization and direct injection of chemotherapeutics into tumor-feeding vessels, while non-vascular approaches include percutaneous image-guided biopsies and various ablation techniques.

Summary: The present study evaluated the 1-year clinical and radiological outcomes of uterine artery embolization (UAE) performed on women with symptomatic myomas who do not wish to conceive. The study confirmed the safety and efficacy of UAE in treating symptomatic fibroids in pre-menopausal women with no desire to conceive.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the angiographic findings and outcomes of repeat uterine artery embolization (UAE) for recurrent postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in patients who had undergone UAE for PPH in the past. The results showed that the technical success rates of the first and second UAEs were 100% and 95.2%, respectively, and the clinical success rates were 85.7% and 95.2%. Obliteration of uterine arteries and formation of collateral arteries were common during the second UAEs.

Summary: This article evaluates MRI features of uterine leiomyomas predicting volumetric response after uterine artery embolization (UAE). Submucosal location, hyperintensity on T2-weighted MRI, small baseline leiomyoma volume (< 58 cm(3)), and hyperintensity on subtraction imaging are independent predictors of leiomyoma volumetric response. A five-variable ROC model showed high diagnostic accuracy for predicting at least 40% leiomyoma volumetric response.

Summary: Superselective pseudocontinuous arterial spin labeling (ss-pCASL) is a reliable method for defining feeding vessels and assessing embolization feasibility in meningioma patients, showing high sensitivity and specificity. This noninvasive approach is particularly beneficial when embolization is not feasible.

Summary: This study analyzed the incidence and factors associated with cardiac arrest during interventional radiology procedures. Age, procedure urgency, ASA physical status, procedure type, and underlying medical conditions were identified as valuable predictors of cardiac arrest. Vascular procedures, specific types of arterial procedures, and patients with malignancy, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus had higher risks.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of pre-interventional magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) on prostatic artery embolization (PAE). The study found that pre-interventional MRA improved workflow and patient safety of PAE, while reducing radiation dose and intervention time.

Summary: This study evaluated and compared the clinical effectiveness and costs of the Caterpillar Arterial Embolization Device and fibered coils in arterial embolization cases. The results showed that the Caterpillar device had shorter time to vessel occlusion, decreased fluoroscopy and procedural time, and lower costs compared to the coil group.

Summary: Bone metastases are a major type of malignancy that greatly affects the quality of life of cancer patients. Mini-invasive treatments have been developed to relieve pain and improve functional status. These treatments often combine chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, or analgesics. This review summarizes the recent literature on interventional radiology procedures for the treatment of bone metastases, focusing on efficacy, complications, local disease control, and recurrence rate.
