Summary: This study aimed to analyze the anxiety, depression, and related factors among pregnant women with cervical insufficiency and provide a reference for clinical psychological intervention as an adjuvant therapy. The results showed a higher incidence rate of anxiety and depression in pregnant women with cervical insufficiency, with a history of abnormal pregnancy being the main influencing factor. Therefore, individualized and targeted mental care should be incorporated into clinical work.

Summary: Vaginal and cervical canal bacteria in Chinese women were compared in terms of composition and characteristics, and their associations with women's health and pregnancy outcomes were examined. Differences were found between different groups, and certain bacterial species were correlated with infant scores. These findings may contribute to the development of potential biomarkers and their clinical applications.

Summary: Objective: To compare the prevalence of abnormal cervical smear results among pregnant and non-pregnant women with and without representation of the transformation zone (TZ) in a mid-sized city in Brazil. Study design: This observational analytical and retrospective study analyzed cervical smear results from pregnant and non-pregnant women in a mid-sized city in Brazil. Pregnant women had higher frequencies of certain abnormal cervical smear results, particularly those with representation of the TZ, highlighting the importance of cervical screening during prenatal visits.

Summary: This study analysed the vaginal microbiota of patients with cervical incompetence and investigated the changes in vaginal microbiota before and after cervical cerclage. The results showed that cervical cerclage increased microbiota diversity, reduced abundance of Lactobacillus, and increased abundance of pathogenic bacteria, which compromised pregnancy maintenance and surgical efficacy. Thus, the role of the vaginal microbiome should be considered when developing treatment strategies for pregnant women with cervical incompetence.

Summary: True penicillin allergy is rare and commonly incorrectly reported. Testing shows that less than 5% of patients who report a penicillin allergy will have an active hypersensitivity when appropriately tested. Penicillin allergy testing is safe and cost-effective, and inaccurate penicillin allergy status may lead to inappropriate antibiotic use.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the differences in salivary metabolites between pregnant women with GDM, HPW, and HNPW, and explore the associations between the identified metabolites and gingivitis. The results identified nine differential metabolites with high confidence in both positive and negative ion modes, and these findings are consistent with previous metabolomics studies using serum and urine samples.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and correlates of psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) among pregnant women in Ghana. The results showed that approximately half of the participants were at risk for psychosis, and the distress caused by PLEs varied. Anxiety, depressive symptoms, and concerns about the effects of COVID-19 were closely associated with psychosis risk.

Summary: Pregnancy is a period of significant physical and psychological changes, and the study suggests that interoceptive sensibility and body trust play important roles in body satisfaction during pregnancy. Women with children reported lower levels of body satisfaction compared to those without children, and first-time mothers were more satisfied with the appearance of pregnancy-specific bodily changes. The results highlight the importance of supporting body trust during the transition to parenthood to improve maternal body satisfaction.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the efficacy of cervical cerclage and cervical pessary in reducing preterm birth rates among women with a short (< 25 mm) or ultra-short (< 15 and < 10 mm) cervix during the second-trimester assessment. Retrospective analysis was conducted on hospital records of 294 singleton pregnancies diagnosed with cervical insufficiency. The results showed similar preterm birth rates < 37 weeks in both groups, but a higher prevalence of NICU admission and need for CPAP in the cerclage group.

Summary: This study aimed to compare cervical elastographic parameters based on previous loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) and determine if they can predict preterm delivery in pregnant women with a history of LEEP. The results showed that a history of LEEP was associated with changes in cervical strain measured in mid-trimester and with shortening of cervical length. Cervical elastography was found to be useful in predicting preterm delivery in pregnant women with previous LEEP.

Summary: This study found that hypovitaminosis D is highly prevalent among pregnant rural Bangladeshi women. Parity and gestational age are common risk factors for vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency, while a husband's occupation and anaemia status may predict vitamin D insufficiency. Younger age and sub-optimal vitamin A status are risk factors for vitamin D deficiency in this population.

Summary: Radiostereometric analysis (RSA) is an accurate method for measuring rigid body pose in three-dimensional space. This study proposes an automated image registration technique using digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRR) and computed tomography (CT) volumetric bone models as substitutes for traditional markers. The results show that marker-free RSA using DRR and CT obtained volumetric bone models is feasible with similar accuracy as the gold standard method. Additionally, the use of synthetic volumetric implant models does not improve silhouette-based methods.

Summary: The objective of this study was to examine the factors associated with unexpectedly high rates of conversion to open label oxytocin in the CONDISOX trial. A secondary retrospective analysis of data from a prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted, and it was found that switching to open label oxytocin during induced labor was associated with nulliparity, an unripe cervix, larger babies, and higher rates of delivery by cesarean section.

Summary: This study characterized and compared the hyperelastic and viscoelastic properties of porcine and human gastric tissue using tension and radial compression tests. The results showed that similar constitutive models can be used for both species, but there were significant variations in the constitutive parameters. This research provides insight into the biomechanical properties of porcine and human gastric tissue and can aid in the development of diagnostic or therapeutic devices with computational models.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the impact of major postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) on women and their partners. Through qualitative interviews, it was found that factors such as incomprehensible medical terminology, a tense atmosphere, and alarm calls increased concern in women and their partners. However, small gestures such as brief explanations from healthcare professionals and reassurance that they were in control of the situation can increase their feeling of safety. Furthermore, family bonding can be supported through measures such as positioning the partner at the head of the bed and keeping the baby on the woman's chest.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of a phase-retrieval technique for propagation-based phase-contrast neutron imaging with a polychromatic beam. This technique allows imaging of samples with low absorption contrast and/or improving the signal-to-noise ratio for time-resolved measurements. Metal and bone samples were used to demonstrate the technique, showing significant improvement in signal-to-noise ratios and the ability to separate bone and D2O in the bone sample for in situ flow experiments. The use of deuteration contrast makes neutron imaging an interesting complementary method to X-ray imaging of bone, without the need for chemical contrast enhancement.

Summary: Unique markers in fetal membrane cells may be key in the search for biomarkers for preterm prelabor rupture of the fetal membranes (pPROM) in maternal blood. Through transcriptomic analysis and immunohistochemistry, markers exclusively expressed in fetal membranes were identified and their localization confirmed. These findings contribute to the understanding of the biological significance of these markers in the maternal circulation.

Summary: This study demonstrates that placental dysfunction is common in small-for-gestational-age fetuses with normal fetal Doppler flows. T2*-weighted placental magnetic resonance imaging is a sensitive biomarker of placental dysfunction, regardless of clinical manifestations. The study indicates a shift in the understanding of placental dysfunction, which may present with a wide range of clinical and subclinical manifestations.
