Summary: Porcine spermatozoa are stored in the oviductal isthmus after natural mating, and the number of spermatozoa is increased in the oviductal ampulla when the mature cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) are transferred into the ampulla. The study found that natriuretic peptide type C (NPPC) and its receptor natriuretic peptide receptor 2 (NPR2) play a role in sperm release from oviduct istsmic cells. The mature COCs promote NPPC expression in the ampulla through TGF-beta signaling.

In this study, the researchers focused on the role of soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC) in the regulation of flagellar motility in Ciona sperm chemotaxis. The results showed that sAC plays a key role in sperm chemotaxis by regulating the clearance of intracellular calcium ions ([Ca2+]i) and modulating Ca2+-dependent flagellar waveform conversion.

Summary: Lipid signaling refers to the biological process in which a lipid messenger binds to a protein target, converting its effects to specific cellular responses. The family of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) plays a crucial role in this pathway, affecting various aspects of cellular biology such as cell survival, proliferation, migration, endocytosis, intracellular trafficking, metabolism, and autophagy. Different classes of PI3Ks have been identified in yeast and mammals, with class I PI3Ks being extensively studied in cancer biology. Abnormal activation of class I PI3Ks has been implicated in human tumors, particularly through activating mutations in the PIK3CA gene. Class II and III PI3Ks are involved in regulating vesicle trafficking and autophagy processes. This review aims to discuss the latest research findings on PI3Ks-mediated cell biological processes and explore the mechanisms by which different types of phosphoinositides derived from PI3Ks act.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism regulating the phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) and its correlation with sperm motility in humans. The researchers found that the inhibitory phosphorylation of GSK3α (Ser21) was negatively correlated with its kinase activity in high-motility spermatozoa, and this correlation was regulated by Ca2+, PKA, Akt, and PP1. These findings may provide new drug targets for enhancing human sperm motility.

Summary: In this study, we found that porcine beta-defensin 129 (pBD129) is widely present in accessory sex glands and coats the surface of sperm. Inhibiting pBD129 on the sperm surface resulted in increased acrosome integrity, tyrosine phosphorylation levels, and Ca2+ influx, leading to a reduced in vitro fertilization cleavage rate. Furthermore, treatment with recombinant pBD129 restored sperm motility in semen contaminated with Escherichia coli.

The results showed that using the binary diet I-R can increase protein and polyunsaturated fatty acids content in live feeds, with A. tonsa nauplii having higher nutritional value compared to B. plicatilis.
