Summary: This systematic review aims to identify caregiver and children factors associated with caregiver burden on primary caregivers of children with cerebral palsy (CP). The review included 16 cross-sectional studies, which found that caregiver depression and severity of illness in children with CP are factors contributing to caregiver burden. Future studies should focus on high-quality longitudinal research and appropriate assistance to reduce caregiver burden and improve the quality of caregiving for children with CP.

Summary: The study aimed to examine the burden and support needs among caregivers of cancer patients. Caregivers were invited through a questionnaire, and the results showed that female caregivers, younger age, higher education, comorbidities, caring for cancer patients with recurrence, and shorter time since diagnosis were associated with higher burden. Most reported needs were information about cancer, late effects, rehabilitation services, and support from peers and professionals.

Summary: This study investigated caregiver burden and related predictive factors among 69 caregivers in Thailand. Factors significantly associated with caregiver burden included age, education level, relationship to the care recipient, income level, quality of life, and the care recipient's activity of daily living status. The study also identified depression levels, independence with activities of daily living, and hours of care per week as key predictors of caregiver burden.

Summary: This study examined the impact of training with an electromechanically assisted gait training (EAGT) system, specifically the Hybrid Assistive Limb(R) (HAL), integrated with conventional rehabilitation on long-term improvements in individuals post-stroke. The findings suggest that intensive conventional gait training induced significant improvements while the integration of treadmill-based EAGT did not provide additional value in this study sample.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between the burden of care and coping strategies among Iranian caregivers of older stroke patients. It found that caregivers with higher burden tend to use more negative coping strategies, such as escape-avoidance and distancing. Male caregivers were more likely to utilize positive reappraisal and accepting responsibility as coping strategies compared to female caregivers.

Summary: Grounded in the self-determination theory (SDT), this study aimed to examine the real-time associations between basic psychological need satisfaction and motivation underpinning daily activity participation among survivors of stroke. The results showed that increased autonomy, competence, and relatedness were momentarily associated with higher autonomous motivation, while increased autonomy and competence were momentarily associated with lower controlled motivation. Contrary to SDT, increased relatedness was momentarily associated with higher controlled motivation. Lagged analyses did not detect momentary associations between basic psychological needs and motivation. These findings highlight the importance of supporting basic psychological needs to foster autonomous motivation and enhance daily activity participation after stroke.

Summary: The study found that parental obsessive-compulsive disorder can bring many limitations and burdens to children, leading to them developing treatment-requiring problems in adulthood as a consequence of their childhood experiences. The tendency of parents with OCD to conceal and deny their mental disorder leads to children experiencing an enormously stressful pressure to adapt and be loyal. Further studies on this topic are urgently needed.
