Summary: This study compared the supraclavicular and costoclavicular approaches in pediatric patients and found that while costoclavicular block did not show superiority in pain management, it had a shorter block performance time and reduced the risk of ipsilateral hemidiaphragm paralysis.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between body mass index (BMI) and changes in body positioning with the distance from the pleura to the inferior trunk of the supraclavicular brachial plexus. The results indicated that in the lateral decubitus position, the distance from the pleura to the inferior trunk significantly increased by 2-fold and was positively correlated with BMI.

Summary: The study compared the effects of supraclavicular and retroclavicular brachial plexus block on diaphragmatic function, with retroclavicular block being significantly less likely to affect ipsilateral diaphragmatic function than supraclavicular block.

Summary: This study compared the analgesic effects of preoperatively and postoperatively initiated continuous interscalene brachial plexus blocks (CIBPBs) in patients undergoing total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA). The results showed that postoperative initiation of CIBPB provided similar analgesic efficacy to preoperative initiation, except for the worst pain at the postanesthetic care unit. There were no differences in opioid consumption between the preoperatively and postoperatively initiated CIBPB groups on operation day after transfer to the general ward.

Summary: This study presents a practical approach to the supraclavicular dissection of the brachial plexus, with emphasis on relevant anatomy and surgical landmarks. Intraoperative surgical imaging and illustrations are used to display the images. The results of the study demonstrate that the supraclavicular dissection of the brachial plexus is reliable with consistent landmarks and can be carried out in a stepwise fashion.

Summary: The effect of body mass index (BMI) on patients with concurrent colorectal cancer (CRC) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) was analyzed in this study. The higher BMI group was found to have better overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in stage II CRC. Age, TNM stage, overall complications, major complications, and BMI were identified as independent factors of OS and DFS.

Summary: The objective of this study was to determine the median effective volume (EV50) of 0.2% ropivacaine for ultrasound-guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block in children aged 1-6 years. The results showed that the EV50 of 0.2% ropivacaine was 0.150 ml/kg (95% CI, 0.131-0.169 ml/kg).
