Summary: In this study, lacrimal gland involvement in primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS) was assessed using lacrimal gland gray-scale ultrasound (LGUS) and two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D-SWE). The results showed that 2D-SWE had better diagnostic performance than LGUS and was correlated with dry eye tests.

Summary: This systematic review analyzes the utility of ultrasound, including elastography, in autoimmune myositis (AIM) and finds evidence supporting its good metric properties, such as criterion and construct validity. However, further studies are needed to determine discrimination, reliability, and feasibility in AIM.

Summary: Ductal lesions in breast imaging are often overlooked and poorly understood, with a risk of underlying malignancy ranging from 5% to 23%. Ultrasonography is an important method for assessing these lesions, but it is difficult to distinguish benign from malignant abnormalities. A study of 82 patients found that microcalcification and enlarged enhancement scope were independent factors for predicting malignant ductal lesions, and their combined diagnosis greatly improved diagnostic performance.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of ABUS as the primary screening test for breast cancer among Korean women aged 40-49 years. The results suggest that ABUS may be an alternative to screening mammography for detecting breast cancers in this age group in East Asia.

Summary: Myofibrolastoma of the breast (MFB) is a rare and benign stromal tumor with no specific diagnostic features in radiologic evaluation. Shear wave elastography (SWE) has shown high stiffness in MFB, a benign lesion, which has been described for the first time in the literature.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of using targeted ultrasound alone as an imaging protocol for women with localized breast symptoms and the added value of digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) in this setting. The results showed that ultrasound alone was comparable in accuracy to combined ultrasound and DBT as a breast imaging modality for focal breast complaints. DBT was able to detect malignant lesions not observed at the symptomatic site and incidental malignant findings in asymptomatic participants, with a cancer detection rate comparable to screening mammography.

Summary: This research explores the method of using artificial intelligence to capture complementary responsible frames from breast ultrasound screening in AI-assisted breast diagnosis. The AI model based on FEBrNet-recommended frames outperforms other frame set based AI models, as well as ultrasound and mammography physicians, indicating the level of FEBrNet reaching medical specialists.

Summary: The study found that in women with dense breasts, the coronal view of automated breast ultrasound significantly reduces reading times, which is valuable in a screening setting. However, the complete multiplanar assessment is necessary for diagnostic performance. Interobserver agreement was fair to moderate for categorical variables and significant for continuous ones.

Summary: This study developed novel deep learning networks incorporating an automatic segmentation network for the diagnosis of breast cancer in automated breast ultrasound. The results showed that the novel DLNs outperformed traditional DLNs and may be helpful for improving diagnostic performance for novice radiologists in ABUS breast cancer diagnosis.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic performance of strain elastography (SE) in differentiating between benign and malignant lymph nodes in cats, using a multivariate approach that included SE results, B-mode ultrasound, and color Doppler findings. The results showed that by combining these different imaging techniques, it was possible to accurately distinguish between the three groups of lymph nodes.

Summary: This study tested whether measuring changes in sound speed using ultrasound tomography could identify favorable responses to tamoxifen. The results showed that sound speed declined steadily among patients receiving tamoxifen, and significant reductions were observed as early as 4-6 months after initiation of treatment. This method may be useful in predicting therapeutic efficacy.
