Summary: This study investigated the efficacy of arthroscopic treatment for patients with shoulder pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS), and the results showed that arthroscopic synovectomy can improve patients' function. Concurrent rotator cuff repair is recommended if necessary.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term functional outcomes and disease control among treatment modalities for diffuse pigmented villonodular synovitis of knee. It found that adding moderate-dose adjuvant radiotherapy following synovectomy provided excellent local control and maintained good joint function with limited treatment-related morbidity.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent hip arthroscopic procedures for PVNS by the senior author from 2012 to 2016. The results showed favorable short to mid-term outcomes with arthroscopic subtotal synovectomy in patients with hip PVNS and no advanced osteochondral damage at presentation, with no recurrence based on follow-up MRI.

Summary: This report presents a unique case of localized pigmented villonodular synovitis of the knee in a misdiagnosed patient with intra- and extraarticular lesion, likely related to knee trauma history and a focal defect in the lateral patellar retinaculum. Open synovectomy effectively relieved symptoms of limited mobility and pain with no recurrence observed up to 18 months postoperatively.

Summary: PVNS is a rare disease with hyperplasia of the synovium, and this study explores the relationship between cIAP2 expression and various factors in the disease. Higher cIAP2 expression in DPVNS synovium was associated with proliferation, anti-apoptosis, and invasive growth, potentially leading to recurrence and poor prognosis.

Summary: Primary pachydermoperiostosis is a rare genetic disease that affects the skin and musculoskeletal system. It is considered a benign condition unlike secondary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy. While various associated abnormalities have been described, no previous literature has reported an association with tumors. This case presents the first instance of a 20-year-old man with primary pachydermoperiostosis revealed by a knee synovial tumor.

Summary: In order to reduce the recurrence rate of PVNS, the author pioneered the arthroscopic total synovial peel (ATSP). The results of the study showed that this method significantly reduces the postoperative recurrence rate of diffuse PVNS, indicating that it may be a viable option for treating PVNS via arthroscopy.

Summary: This study compared the clinical outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) and arthroscopy in patients with pigment Villonodular synovitis of the hip. The results showed that both approaches led to significant improvement in patients' function, with no significant difference between the two groups. However, there was a risk of PVNS recurrence in the arthroscopy group.

Summary: Osteoporosis is a significant public health risk that leads to fractures and decreased quality of life. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is the primary screening technique, but other methods may be needed in certain situations. Imaging techniques help identify and monitor high-risk individuals, leading to a reduction in osteoporosis-associated morbidity and mortality.
