Summary: Improper use of mobile phones increases the risk of accidents and chronic disorders. This study found that long-term use of mobile phones is associated with higher accident risk and various health issues such as neoplasms, eye diseases, mental health disorders, and headaches. Proper and reasonable use of mobile phones is essential for minimizing these risks.

Summary: Gout is a multifactorial metabolic disease where the role of hyperuricemia in its development is not solely definitive. Understanding the intricate role of serum uric acid (SUA) in gout pathogenesis is crucial for advancing clinical and pharmaceutical approaches towards a cure for the disease.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of mobile phone RF-EMR on mouse embryo development and genetic toxicity. Results showed that exposure to RF-EMR led to delayed cleavage development and a longer time to reach the blastocyst stage. It also caused changes in the transcript levels of oxidative stress associated genes.

Summary: This study investigated the neuronal effects of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from mobile phones on neonatal rat cortical neurons and the protective role of hispolon (HIS) and its derivatives. The results showed that pyrazole derivatives reduced apoptosis in EMR-exposed neurons by modulating the levels of pro and anti-apoptotic genes and reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels via mitochondrial damage. The pyrazole compounds exhibited antioxidative and anti-apoptotic properties, suggesting their potential as lead compounds for developing neuroprotective formulations.

Summary: The study found that chronic progressive dopaminergic neurodegeneration had limited impact on adult neurogenesis in the V-SVZ PVRs and mid/hindbrain aNSCs, failing to activate endogenous aNSCs in the mid/hindbrain PVRs.

Summary: Oligospermia is a milder form of azoospermia and is characterized by higher expression levels of PTEN, P27, and P57, and lower expression levels of AKT and miR-221. Suppressed levels of IL-10, TGF-beta, and catalase activity were also observed in oligospermia patients. These findings suggest that the measurement of apoptosis-related markers and oxidative stress markers could be critical diagnostic indicators for oligospermia.

Summary: Exploration of dynamic human activity provides insights into the urban environment and helps with urban management strategies. This study investigates the impact of different restriction phases on human activity through sensing human activity zones (HAZs). Using machine learning classifiers, we find that the variation of human activity during the COVID-19 pandemic is strongly associated with urban characteristics.

Summary: The expression of myoglobin is associated with better prognosis in breast cancer patients, but its role in mammary tumorigenesis is unclear. Through CRISPR/Cas9 technology, we generated myoglobin-deficient breast cancer cell lines and found that loss of myoglobin increased cell survival and expression of cell cyclins, as well as enhanced cell migration and invasion under hypoxia. In human invasive mammary ductal carcinoma tissues, myoglobin levels were positively correlated with apoptotic markers, and myoglobin expression was associated with a positive prognostic value.

Summary: Raman spectroscopy was used to study the effects of GSM mobile phone signals on red blood cells, revealing reduced hemoglobin-oxygen affinity and altered metabolic activities in the exposed cells. Further experiments confirmed an increase in intracellular Ca2+ levels and observable changes in shape and mechanical properties due to exposure to the mobile signals.
