Bauhinia forficata is used in folk medicine for its hypoglycemiant effect. In the south of Brazil, the subspecies pruinosa is found in a region with the characteristic flora, pampa biome. This species has been consumed by the local population as a tea for diabetes treatment. We studied the chemical composition of hydroethanolic extracts using LC/ESI-MS. The leaf extracts were prepared by percolation with 50% (v/v) ethanol. The chromatographic analyses were performed using a reverse-phase system, gradient elution with acetonitrile: phosphoric acid 0.05%, and ESI-MS in the positive ion mode. The chemical profile of the flavonoids was suggested to involve four quercetin and kaempferol glycosides.

Analytical Study of the Antifungal Posaconazole in Raw Material: Quantitative Bioassay, Decomposition Chemical Kinetics, and Degradation Impurities by LC-QTOF-MS

Summary: This study validated an alternative microbiological assay for quantitation of posaconazole in bulk and investigated its stress stability, showing susceptibility to degradation factors. Three major degradation products of posaconazole were identified, with first-order kinetics observed for photolytic decomposition. The microbiological method was proven to be equivalent to physico-chemical ones, and impurities found in posaconazole were described for the first time in raw material studies.

Summary: This study explored the chemical composition, anti-inflammatory, and antihypertensive activities of extracts from Cuphea lindmaniana and Cuphea urbaniana leaves. The extracts contain a rich diversity of flavonoids and exhibit in vitro anti-inflammatory and antihypertensive potential, as well as anti-chemotactic effects.

Summary: The stability of the antibiotic doripenem was evaluated by LC-ESI-Q-TOF method, revealing six degradation products under stress conditions and the formation of a major degradation product through cleavage of the beta-lactam ring under hydrolytic conditions. Additionally, oxidation of the drug using H2O2 led to the formation of three new degradation products. The study provides insight into the degradation behavior of doripenem and its important antibiotic class.

Summary: Tizanidine hydrochloride is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant used for spasticity management, currently available only in tablet form. Liquid formulations prepared in a hospital environment from the tablets showed good chemical stability for 56 days, but were prone to microbial contamination, reducing their stability to only 7 days.
