Summary: The Veterans Health Administration (VHA), responsible for providing quality healthcare to 9 million veterans, faces efficiency concerns. This study evaluates the efficiency scores of VA hospitals and examines the impact of the 2014 Veterans Choice Act on their technical efficiency. The findings suggest that VA hospitals can improve efficiency by reallocating resources, but the implementation of the Act resulted in an overall decrease in technical efficiency.

Summary: Educational interventions targeting providers in primary care settings can improve the appropriateness of antibiotic prescribing for conditions rarely requiring antimicrobials, without increasing re-visits or affecting patient satisfaction. The study showed a significant decrease in antibiotic prescriptions for acute bronchitis and improved appropriateness for uncomplicated sinusitis and pharyngitis post-intervention.

Summary: This study examines the dynamic contract design problem of allocating resources to multiple agents in the platform economy. By utilizing resource allocation and monetary transfers, agents are incentivized to exert effort and reduce adverse events. Unlike the single-agent case, there exist efficient and incentive-compatible contracts that allocate all resources and encourage agents to maintain constant effort.
