Summary: Chronic cannabis users showed impairments in decision making tasks compared to non-users, displaying a preference for immediate rewards, less advantageous decisions, and greater impulsivity. However, both groups had similar performance on the Probabilistic Reversal Learning Task.

Summary: The study found no significant associations between discounting of money and hyper-palatable foods (HPF) and food addiction (FA) symptoms among a general population sample. This suggests that discounting HPF may not be a key behavioral feature among individuals who endorse FA symptoms.

Summary: The study found a significant association between food addiction and alcohol-related consequences, both of which share similar associations with specific impulsive personality traits. Alcohol-related consequences have unique associations with other impulsive personality traits and impulsive choice, while food addiction has a unique association with impulsive action. Beyond alcohol-related consequences, food addiction is associated with additional variance in measures of impulsive personality traits and impulsive action, but not impulsive choice.

Summary: This study examined the impact of Dark Triad traits on social and delay discounting through tasks involving hypothetical money choices. Results showed that individuals scoring high in psychopathy and Machiavellianism were more selfish and less willing to share, while those scoring high in narcissism were more willing to share. Furthermore, a positive correlation was observed between delay and social discounting.

Summary: People with excess weight exhibit higher impulsivity and lower probability of choosing delayed rewards, with higher BMI associated with even lower probability. They also score higher in impulsivity measures and show less activation in executive function areas during decision-making.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of technology-enabled healthy food labels on food choice in an online grocery store setting. The results show that self-monitoring, pre-commitment, and social comparison-based labels have varying levels of impact on food choice, with self-monitoring and pre-commitment labels being more effective for impulsive participants.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between worker substance abuse and workplace fraud in medical doctors. The findings suggest that doctors engaging in substance abuse are significantly more likely to commit fraud, possibly due to the financial pressures and impaired cognitive self-regulatory mechanisms associated with substance abuse.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health and decision-making difficulties of the Italian population. The results showed that one year after the outbreak, levels of depression, anxiety, and stress were still alarming. Fear of job loss, loneliness, and intolerance of uncertainty were identified as major risk factors for mental health, with fear of COVID-19 infection predicting anxiety symptoms. Predictors of decision-making tendencies indicated that increased fear of job loss and older age were associated with less future-oriented behaviors.

Summary: Fluctuating ovarian hormones have been shown to affect decision-making processes in women. However, women using oral contraceptives do not differ in value-based decision-making compared to the early follicular and periovulatory natural menstrual cycle phases.

Summary: Among participants reporting suicide ideation within the past year, those with more PTSD symptoms and a past-year suicide attempt showed significantly higher discount rates, indicating a preference for immediately available rewards. This suggests that individuals with PTSD symptoms may be more vulnerable to suicidal behavior due to a tendency to prioritize immediate rewards over larger delayed rewards.

Summary: The study reveals a link between ADHD and sub-optimal temporal decision-making and inconsistency. Individuals with higher ADHD symptoms tend to make fewer choices of the delayed option when it is better, but more choices when it is not better. ADHD is also associated with higher inconsistency in both conditions.
