Summary: This study aims to explore the self-regulated learning (SRL) strategies used by medical students during their clerkships. The findings showed that the most common SRL strategies used by the students were seeking information online, seeking social assistance from doctors, and reading books. There were differences in the strategies used by female and male students in different learning contexts. Some students lacked SRL strategies for certain situations due to a lack of time.

Summary: The development of smart and mobile technologies has led to the creation of a smart learning environment that supports different learning styles and skills development. A self-regulated smart learning environment (mobile app) was developed and implemented to support online learning experiences of undergraduate students in this study. Through a mix of quantitative and qualitative evaluations, it was found that the mobile app supported students' online learning experiences, but there were suggestions for improvement such as enhancing user functionalities and providing a web-based version for different operating systems.

Summary: This study investigates the factors associated with self-regulated learning and its relationship with clinical performance among medical students in China. The findings suggest that factors such as clear career planning and professional idol, full-time teaching clinical teachers, and seeking help from classmates and teachers are related to self-regulated learning. Additionally, extrinsic goals and clinical clerkship evaluation are positively correlated with clinical performance.

Summary: Being able to self-regulate one's learning is crucial for academic success but often difficult for students. This study investigates the use of a mobile application with gamification elements to support first-year university students' self-regulated learning processes. The results show that the use of the app leads to an increase in autonomous motivation and metacognitive self-regulation skills. However, most students only use the app for a limited number of self-study sessions. The study also reveals that students are less inclined to use the app if they feel they do not need support for their self-regulated learning processes.

Summary: This study examines the impact of writing reflective journals on self-regulated writing strategies among Chinese EFL students. The results reveal that common self-regulated writing strategies documented in the reflective journals include handling feedback, resource management, text processing, emotion regulation, and idea planning. The use of self-monitoring and evaluation, idea planning, perspective change, emotional control, effort regulation, peer learning, and resource management strategies significantly increased over time. High-proficiency students were more likely to apply idea planning, feedback handling, and resource management strategies, while low-proficiency students were more likely to engage in goal-setting.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between achievement emotions, self-regulated learning, and burnout among medical students in online education. The results showed that students' self-efficacy positively predicted their enjoyment and online self-regulated learning. On the other hand, learning-related boredom inhibited the adoption of self-regulated learning strategies and increased burnout. Learning-related anxiety, despite being a negative emotion, positively predicted online self-regulated learning. These findings have important implications for online teaching and learning.

Summary: Self-regulated learning (SRL) plays a crucial role in helping students achieve high academic performance and meet their learning objectives in online learning. Artificial intelligence (AI) applications show promise in supporting SRL by measuring and enhancing various aspects of self-regulation, but more research is needed in this area. This study explores students' perceptions of using AI applications to support SRL and identifies important pedagogical and psychological aspects for effective utilization of these applications. The findings provide practical implications for designing AI applications in online learning to support students' SRL.

Summary: This study examined the use of self-regulated learning (SRL) strategies and anxiety levels among 171 first-year non-English major students in fully synchronous online English classes. The findings showed that students utilized SRL strategies highly and that these strategies significantly contributed to their online learning outcomes. However, anxiety levels did not predict learning outcomes and did not determine SRL strategies in online classes.

Summary: In this study, a multifunctional structure consisting of molecularly imprinted polymer-coated gold nanorods on a polystyrene close-packed monolayer microarray (AuNR@MIP/PS) was designed to improve the selectivity and reproducibility of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)-based sensor devices. The combination of three components in the structure contributed to the high performance and sensitivity of the substrate in detecting molecules of interest by SERS. The substrate showed good specificity and sensitivity for bisphenol A (BPA) detection and accurately detected BPA in real orange juice.

Summary: This study examined the symptom burden among older patients hospitalized for heart failure. The results showed that patients commonly experienced symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and anxiety. Depression was significantly associated with heart failure class, total symptom burden score, and left ventricular ejection fraction. Further research on adverse outcomes and the implementation of palliative care approaches targeting symptom reduction are recommended for heart failure patients.

Summary: The welfare of farmed fish has become an important consideration for consumers when making purchasing decisions. This study aims to investigate consumers' preferences and willingness to pay for farmed fish welfare and also examines the influence of social desirability on their responses. An online survey was conducted among Danish consumers, using a discrete choice experiment to elicit their preferences and willingness to pay for fish welfare. The findings reveal that attributes such as fish form, labeling, price, and premium have an impact on consumers' choice of fish. The study also highlights the presence of consumer heterogeneity in preferences and willingness to pay, and the influence of social desirability bias on the valuation of fish welfare.
