This study examined relationships between schizotypy symptom dimensions and smoking. Individuals with schizotypy (n = 81) were twice as likely to smoke as individuals in a normative reference group (n = 303). Among those with schizotypy, smokers reported more severe disorganization and less severe negative schizotypal symptoms. These findings offer insight into mechanisms underlying smoking in schizotypal individuals and suggest areas for further research. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
