Summary: Conventional rechargeable aqueous Zn-ion batteries store charges through the cationic redox conversion mechanism, which provides limited capacity and energy density. Triggering the oxygen redox chemistry (ORC) can enhance the performance, and this study proposes a layered-type V2P2O9 cathode material that exhibits the ORC process at a high working potential window. The ORC process not only enhances the capacity performance but also improves the electrochemical stability window.
