A novel approach using pattern languages shows potential in supporting complex space mission concept generation.

Summary: Satellite altimetry is a key technique for measuring water level changes in continental water bodies. The simultaneous availability of multiple satellite altimetry missions presents an opportunity to obtain a more detailed understanding of the hydrological regime of rivers. However, combining water level data from different locations and satellites is challenging due to factors such as topography and intermission biases. This study proposes a new method to combine multi-mission altimetry-based water levels, allowing for a more accurate analysis of the hydrological regime.

Summary: In this study, a combined optimization-based estimation-model predictive control technique is developed to enhance the dynamic performance of a reconfigurable LC-based power module. This technique reduces costs and minimizes noise and oscillation. By using software-defined power electronics and OBE-MPC, the power module can be adapted to different topologies and applied to various load/source applications.

Summary: Cost estimates in the early stages of project development are crucial but challenging due to limited information. This paper proposes cost-estimation models that can provide satisfactory accuracy with minimal effort and compares perspectives of owners and contractors. A questionnaire survey was conducted to determine cost drivers (CDs) with high influence and low establishment effort. Models were developed using multiple-regression analysis, artificial neural networks, and XGBoost. Results show reasonable accuracy with low effort for three CDs (owners' perspective) and five CDs (contractors' perspective). Additional inclusion of input CDs does not necessarily improve accuracy. Findings highlight owners' concern for environmental issues and contractors' concern for resource price changes. These findings aid intelligent decision-making in early stages of future highway-construction projects.

It utilizes a cost analysis model to calculate the reimbursement amount paid by the National Health Service to healthcare providers for the costs associated with diagnosing and treating cancer patients. The method has been successfully implemented in Italy and adapted to other European countries.

In this study, a novel parametric mobile low-cost open-source racking system is designed and validated using numerical modeling. The system is built with easily accessible materials and tools, making it replicable in remote areas and the developing world.

Summary: This research analyzes the reason for bias in ego-velocity estimation in low-cost automotive radar and develops a new algorithm to recognize different types of object reflections. An optimization framework is proposed to improve ego-velocity estimation, combined with a robust estimation method to handle outliers. Experimental results demonstrate significant reduction in ego-velocity estimation error.

Summary: In this study, Modal Linear Regression (MODLR) is combined with Case-based reasoning (CBR) for early-stage construction cost estimation. Compared with conventional CBR models using genetic algorithm (GA) and ordinary least squares (OLS), results show that MODLR-CBR has significantly less variance in attribute weight, demonstrating its superior knowledge stability in handling changes in the case-base. This study not only enhances the robustness of CBR models, but also prepares construction cost practitioners for the increasing volume of cost data. The findings can further contribute to the area of multidimensional optimization in CBR.

Summary: This article proposes a combinatorial method to model the mission reliability of PMS with phase backups, utilizing compressed event trees and fault trees to describe failure causes and logic relations of component malfunctions. A binary decision diagram-based method is applied for calculating mission failure probability, showing better performance than alternative solutions. Examples are analyzed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Summary: The study aims to evaluate the effect of controlling the attitude motion of space debris on fuel consumption during contactless transportation, comparing four control strategies for an active spacecraft. The simulation results showed that stabilizing the object in a stable angular equilibrium position is the most fuel-efficient strategy, while stabilizing the object in an angular position corresponding to the maximum ion force is ineffective.
