Summary: Antitrust regulations aim to promote fair competition in the market, but balancing administrative and legal costs with enforcement becomes challenging in multi-layered supply chains. The Illinois Brick ruling limits antitrust damages to direct purchasers, potentially leading to missed opportunities for enforcement. Different contract structures in supply chain arrangements can influence the likelihood of collusion and legal action between manufacturers and retailers.

Summary: This study conducted four surveys to explore the difference between maximizers and satisficers in their perception of decision importance and preference for a large assortment. Maximizers perceive decisions as more important and this perception serves as the mechanism behind their preference for more choices. The study also identified cost salience as a boundary condition for this effect.

Summary: Based on dual-process theory, this research examines the role of intuition in managerial decision making, specifically CEO acquisition decisions. Using a qualitative analysis, the study develops a framework that empirically analyzes how CEOs utilize intuition in real-life strategic decisions. The results reveal five roles of intuition, including synthesizing, estimating, scanning, confirming, and energizing, covering both cognitive and affective aspects of decision-making. This research also provides a holistic perspective on the roles of intuition and validates the robustness of the findings.

Summary: The study investigated whether the human brain can operate in a brief metabolic overdrive to successfully make decisions requiring high levels of speed and accuracy. Results revealed two modes of physiological overdrive responses in subjects emphasizing both speed and accuracy, with most showing enhancement of initial dip amplitude in the posterior visual cortex correlated with behavioral improvement. The relationship between BOLD response and behavior was observed specifically in challenging situations when subjects emphasized both speed and accuracy.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of the timing of green technology investment in a polluted duopoly with environmental regulation. A three-stage game is considered, where firms sequentially choose their investment, the regulator sets the optimal emission fee, and the polluting good is produced. Results show that when free-riding incentives are strong, the leader enjoys a first-mover advantage by investing less in abatement compared to the follower, similar to sequential public good games. It is also found that sequential investment decisions result in higher abatement than simultaneous decisions, with variations based on environmental settings.
