Summary: In this study, environment-friendly waterborne polyurethane (WPU) additives were prepared and applied to modify bitumen. The properties of the WPU additive were characterized, and the storage stability, workability, and rheological properties of the modified bitumen were investigated. The results showed that WPU additives improved the high-temperature deformation resistance and low-temperature cracking resistance of bitumen, but slightly weakened its fatigue resistance. The chemical structure of the virgin bitumen remained unchanged after the incorporation of WPU additives. Overall, the eco-friendly WPU modified bitumen has excellent application value and broad market prospects.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) and bacterial cellulose (BC) on castor oil-based waterborne polyurethane (WBPU) films. BC-reinforced composites showed slightly higher thermal stability and maintained structural integrity when immersed in water, attributed to BC's high thermal stability and interconnected reticular morphology.

Summary: This study develops environmentally friendly bio-based waterborne polyurethane (WPU) coatings by modifying them with chitosan-modified zinc oxide (CS-ZnO) nanoparticles. The results show that the addition of CS-ZnO improves the strength and thermal stability of the coatings, but reduces their optical transparency and wettability.

Summary: The research explored the feasibility of applying waterborne acrylate and waterborne polyurethane to improve cracking resistance for fog seal technology as a cleaner modification approach. Results showed the compatibility of these additives in fog seal materials and demonstrated how the interaction between asphalt emulsion and waterborne additive affected the cracking resistance. Additionally, the study found that polymer network formation through asphalt-additives interaction improved thermal cracking resistance of fog seal materials.

Summary: Waterborne epoxy emulsified asphalt (w-EA) is prone to cracking at low temperatures after curing, making it vulnerable to damage in plateau zone. In order to improve its performance, waterborne polyurethane (w-PU) is used as a toughening agent to modify w-EA. The addition of w-PU improves the microstructure, creep resistance, dynamic mechanical properties, low-temperature performance, and tensile mechanical properties of w-EA. The mixture with 10 wt% w-PU has significantly enhanced low-temperature crack resistance of w-EA.

Summary: In this study, a low-polarity waterborne polyurethane (WPU) was synthesized to alleviate harmful residual dye pollution in microfiber synthetic leather industry. It was found that increasing the content of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) can decrease the alkali reduction rate, but excessive content leads to phase separation and increases the alkali reduction rate. The addition of an appropriate amount of HTPB significantly improves the coloration rate of microfiber leather and meets most application requirements.

Summary: The aim of this research was to study the impact of different types of nanoparticles on the UV weathering resistance of polyurethane treatment in polyester-based fabrics. The results showed that the addition of nanoparticles significantly improved the puncturing strength of the fabric and reduced its deformability. However, after UV aging, the mechanical performance of both the neat fabric and PU-impregnated specimens decreased.
