Summary: The research focused on the photoresponsive properties of azobenzene-containing poly(arylene ether)s, revealing the influence of structure and content of bis-azobenzene groups on the photoinduced deformation rates, as well as the adjustability of deformation behavior by the polarization direction of the excitation laser. This back-and-forth photoinduced deformation behavior observed in the polymers provides insights for designing polymers with complex photoinduced deformation behavior.

Summary: Polyimide is a class of polymers with high thermal stability and intrinsic flame retardancy, but a high amount of aromatic rings may affect other properties. By introducing bulky DOPO units into flexible polyimide films, blue light emission in solvents and green light emission in thin-film state were achieved. The chemical structure, optical properties, thermal decomposition mechanism, and flame-retardant behavior were studied through spectroscopy and microscopy analysis.

Summary: This study investigated the second harmonic generation in zinc oxide films deposited by the hydrothermal method. The correlation between second-order optical susceptibility tensor components d(311) and d(333) was studied, and the origin and factors influencing the film nonlinearities were discussed. It was found that the change of stacking sequences and the inhomogeneous distribution of nonlinearities over the film thickness hindered the investigations of the thickness dependence of ZnO film nonlinearities.
