Summary: The effect of abrasive grit geometry on two-body abrasion wear behavior of long banana and jute fiber reinforced epoxy composites has been investigated. The wear response of composites depends on pressure, geometry of abrasion particles and their composition. The wear volume loss and specific wear rate decrease with an increase in the rank of grit grade.

Summary: In this study, the abrasive wear characteristics of cotton grass reinforced epoxy composites were analyzed using the hand layup technique. The mechanical properties of the composites, such as tensile strength, hardness, and impact energy, were experimentally investigated and optimized. The results showed that the CG content had the most significant influence on the properties of the composites, followed by sliding velocity, normal load, and sliding distance. The worn surfaces of the composites were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy to study the potential wear mechanism.

Summary: In this study, waste fly ash powder-filled chopped glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites were fabricated and analyzed for physical, mechanical, thermo-mechanical properties, and three-body abrasive wear rate. The results showed improvements in density, void fraction, and hardness with increasing fly ash content, while strength and modulus increased up to 10 wt.%. Dynamic mechanical analysis was used to evaluate homogeneity of composites, and Taguchi's design of experiment method was employed to analyze the effects of various factors on composite properties.

Summary: In this study, the friction and wear properties of Furcraea foetida fiber-reinforced epoxy composites were investigated. The effect of fiber content on the tribological behavior of the composites was evaluated. The results showed that the composite with 50 vol% of fibers had the lowest frictional force and coefficient of friction (COF), while the composite with 60 vol% demonstrated the best wear resistance. This study provides valuable insights into the tribological behavior of the composites and identifies the optimal volume fractions for improved friction and wear performance.

Summary: Fiber-reinforced composite materials are widely used in extreme service environments due to their excellent properties, but their non-uniformity and anisotropy make them difficult-to-machine materials prone to damage. Traditional and non-traditional machining methods struggle to avoid damage, with abrasive waterjet (AWJ) machining emerging as a green and environmentally friendly alternative. Further research is needed to address key issues during AWJ drilling to minimize damage in fiber-reinforced composite materials.
