(S)-2-(Ethyl propionate)-(O-ethyl xanthate) (X1) and the newly synthesized (S)-2-(ethyl isobutyrate)-(O-ethyl xanthate) (X2) were used as the reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agents for the radical polymerization of N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP). The former showed the better chain transfer ability in the polymerization at 60 A degrees C. Kinetics study with X1 shows the psuedo-first order kinetics upto 45% monomer conversion. Molecular weight (M (n)) of the resulted polymer increases linearly with increase in the monomer conversion upto around 45%. Polydispersity of the corresponding poly(NVP)s increase gradually from 1.2 to 1.9 with increase in the monomer conversion. Chain-end analysis of the resulted polymer by (1)H NMR shows clearly that polymerization started with radical forming out of xanthate mediator. Living nature of the polymerization was confirmed from the successful homo chain extension experiment and also the hetero-chain extension experiment involving synthesis of poly(NVP)-b-polystyrene amphiphilic diblock copolymer.

An efficient matrix approach for the numerical solutions of electromagnetic wave model based on fractional partial derivative

Vijay Kumar Patel, Dhirendra Bahuguna

Summary: This article proposes an efficient numerical method combining matrix and Kronecker multiplication to solve a fractional partial differential equation arising from electromagnetic waves in dielectric media. The method transforms FPDE into an algebraic equation, and numerical algorithms and experiments are provided to demonstrate accuracy and efficiency. The simplicity and accuracy of the method make it highly effective with a small number of basis functions.

Summary: By grafting DBU-ILs onto magnetically separable Fe3O4 nanoparticles, an accelerated platform for CO2 fixation was demonstrated. The method showed excellent recyclability and effectively fixed CO2 to synthesize important heterocyclic compounds such as quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-dione and benzimidazolone.

Summary: In this study, scaffolds based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and soy protein isolate (SPI) were prepared using the freeze-thaw method. The properties of the scaffolds were investigated, and it was found that the concentration of soy protein isolate significantly influenced the properties of the scaffolds. In vitro tests showed that the fabricated hydrogels had good compatibility and water vapor transmission rate suitable for wound dressing. The results demonstrated that the fabricated scaffolds had excellent biocompatibility, mechanical strength, porosity, stability, and degradation rate, indicating their potential for tissue engineering applications.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized double hydrophilic ABA-type amphiphilic polyurethane-based triblock copolymers using a combination of polymerization techniques. The properties of the copolymers vary, with the critical micelle concentration of PNVP-b-PU-b-PNVP increasing with the length of the PNVP block, and the lower critical solution temperature of PNIPAM-b-PU-b-PNIPAM being 23.5 and 25.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Numerical wavelets scheme to complex partial differential equation arising from Morlet continuous wavelet transform

Vijay Kumar Patel, Somveer Singh, Vineet Kumar Singh

Summary: This article discusses a new wavelets approximation scheme based on operational matrices for solving initial value complex partial differential equations arising from continuous wavelet transform. The algorithm developed converts CPDE into a system of PDEs, which is further converted into couple PDEs in terms of real and imaginary component. After implementation of wavelets scheme, the system of PIDEs is reduced into a system of algebraic equations.
