Summary: By utilizing SSR and SLAF-seq technologies, this study successfully mapped QTLs for flowering time in rapeseed and identified three target intervals. A total of 186 genes with genetic variations, including 14 related to flowering time pathways, were found in these intervals. Development of six InDel markers linked to flowering time indicates the credibility of the results for further genetic studies in Brassica napus L.

Summary: Plant architecture is an important trait that affects crop yield and mechanical harvesting suitability in rapeseed. In this study, we characterized a natural dwarf and compact plant architecture accession of Brassica napus and identified candidate genes and metabolic pathways related to this phenotype. Our findings provide insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying rapeseed plant architecture and have implications for breeding new varieties suitable for mechanization.

Summary: Colombian coloration patterns in certain poultry breeds, including the Columbian Plymouth Rock chicken, are observed. A study investigated the genetic basis of sub-Columbian plumage pattern in chickens and identified the SLC45A2 and CDKN2A genes as significant factors. The study also demonstrated differential expression of the SLC45A2 gene in the feather tissues associated with plumage color.

Summary: Chili peppers, an important horticultural crop cultivated and commercialized worldwide, undergo a ripening process that enhances their quality and nutritional value through changes in color, flavor, aroma, and texture. Ripening of chili peppers involves a series of physiological, biochemical, and molecular changes that must be finely regulated at the transcriptional level. This review integrates knowledge on transcription factors regulating different stages of the chili pepper ripening process.

Summary: The study identified FaAKR23 as a regulator of ascorbic acid (AsA) and anthocyanin accumulation in strawberry fruits. Silencing FaAKR23 significantly decreased the levels of AsA and anthocyanin, as well as repressed the expression of structural genes and regulatory factors involved in their accumulation. Transcriptome analysis also suggested the involvement of FaAKR23 in starch and sucrose metabolism, as well as plant-pathogen interaction.
