Summary: Previous studies have shown that the adrenergic receptor signaling pathway plays a significant role in chronic stress-induced cancer metastasis. This study investigates whether an ethanol extract of Perilla frutescens leaves (EPF) can regulate the metastatic ability of cancer cells induced by adrenergic agonists. The results demonstrate that EPF can suppress the adrenergic agonist-promoted metastatic ability of cancer cells by inhibiting Src-mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Summary: The study shows the central role of AhR in regulating multiple immune checkpoints in oral squamous cell carcinoma. Deletion of AhR in mouse OSCC cells results in complete rejection of tumors and increased T cell activation. This suggests AhR as a potential target for modulating immune response in cancer treatment.

Summary: This literature review addresses the role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and its ligands in breast cancer. The study explores the biological mechanisms of AhR agonists in interfering with breast endocrine functions and their impact on breast cancer development and progression. The findings suggest that exposure to AhR agonists stimulates pathways that promote breast cancer and contribute to tumor progression. Therefore, the evaluation and regulation of industrial and agricultural chemicals and other toxicants are essential in reducing the risk of breast cancer.

Summary: Atropine, extracted from belladonna plant, is an anticholinergic drug used to treat cholinergic drug overdose or mushroom poisoning. In silico docking analysis suggests that atropine has strong virtual binding to two major signaling molecules involved in EMT regulation. Both gene and protein expression results indicate that atropine effectively reduces EMT and colony formation in breast tumor cells. Thus, atropine could be a potential suppressor of EMT in drug-resistant breast tumor cells and be used in combination with other chemotherapeutic drugs.

Summary: In this study, beneficial probiotics, specifically Enterococcus faecium, were isolated from broiler chicken carcasses and found to improve chicken health against Salmonella infections. Chickens fed with E. faecium showed improved body weight, reduced mortality, and lower levels of S. enterica. The presence of E. faecium also led to increased levels of short-chain fatty acids and reduced levels of pro-inflammatory markers. These findings highlight the potential of E. faecium as a preventive measure against bacterial infections in broiler chickens.

Summary: Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) has emerged as a potential molecular target in cancer research. It regulates complex transcriptional processes in normal and malignant cells through its canonical and non-canonical pathways. Different classes of AhR ligands have shown anticancer potential, while antagonistic ligands inhibit AhR activity as a potential therapeutic strategy. Recent advancements include the development of cancer immunotherapeutic drugs targeting AhR signaling pathways and the tumor microenvironment.

Summary: The prevalence of obesity is increasing in developed countries, causing public health concerns. Understanding the molecular basis of obesity and related diseases is crucial for their management. The mechanisms underlying the interactions between environment, lifestyle, and genetics play a key role in developing effective strategies. Epigenetic changes have been found to be crucial in the etiology of obesity. Although the use of epigenetic treatments has been discussed in cancer, challenges remain for type 2 diabetes mellitus.
