Summary: The study introduces a protein database search engine based on 2D-PC-MS method, which can accurately identify protein sequences by matching theoretical and experimentally detected correlating fragments, with high structural specificity. This search engine is not only suitable for peptide identification, but also for intact protein identification.

Summary: GlycanFinder is a database search and de novo sequencing tool for accurate identification of intact glycopeptides. It integrates peptide-based and glycan-based search strategies to overcome the challenge of complex fragmentation. With a deep learning model, GlycanFinder is able to sequence glycans not found in the database. Extensive analyses and benchmarking studies demonstrate its comparable performance to leading software and its capability to identify previously unknown glycopeptides.

Summary: Recent analyses have identified over a million biosynthetic gene clusters in public microbial genomes, with the majority of their natural products remaining unknown. Additionally, GNPS has billions of mass spectra of natural products without known structures and biosynthetic genes. To bridge the gap between genome mining and mass spectral datasets for natural product discovery, the authors developed HypoRiPPAtlas, an Atlas of hypothetical natural product structures, which allows for in silico database search of tandem mass spectra.

Summary: Carrageenan is a sulfated polysaccharide commonly used in the food industry. This study developed a liquid chromatography mass spectrometry strategy using a hypothetical database for oligosaccharide analysis. The results showed that the time and pH at which acidic hydrolysis is stopped affects the length and evenness of the generated oligosaccharides.

Summary: The Phl p 5-specific ELISA system was found to be suitable for quantifying Phl p 5 with high precision, based on assessments of accuracy, precision, and variations within and between laboratories in Europe and the USA. The results suggest that this immunoassay could be proposed as the standard method for the European Pharmacopoeia.

Summary: The aim of this study was to develop a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for the determination of milk allergen and egg allergen in food products. Signature peptides were synthesized as the quantitative peptide for different allergens, and relative isotope-labeled internal standards were used for quantification. The developed method showed good sensitivity and accuracy for detecting egg and milk allergens in various food samples.

Summary: This study investigates the pyrolysis characteristics of transformer insulating paperboard (TIPB) using thermogravimetric analysis. The results show that the pyrolysis temperature and residue yield of TIPB are influenced by its composition. FTIR analysis reveals the presence of CO2, H2O, and functional groups containing C=C and C=O bonds in the pyrolysis products. Py-GC/MS and FTIR results further provide insights into the types of compounds present in TIPB.

Summary: Highly precise Fe isotope ratio measurements were successfully conducted on fourteen reference materials using fs LA-MC-ICP-MS. A synthetic standard Cr-979S was utilized for calibration and corrections, yielding excellent results for samples with low Cr concentration but requiring additional corrections for samples with high Cr concentration. Combining standard-sample bracketing method and Cr-979S standard corrections proved to be effective in obtaining accurate measurements for samples with high Cr content.

Summary: This paper focuses on the evaluation of variation of relative response factors (RRFs) obtained by two internal standard (IS) methods that are used to control the quality of alcoholic products. The results showed that the standard IS method had more stable variation in RRFs compared to the ethanol IS method, indicating its suitability for controlling the quality of alcoholic products.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of putrefaction on the quantitative analyses of diphenhydramine in blood and tissues using the routine matrix-matched calibration method and the standard addition method. Results showed that the MMC method with isotope-labeled IS accurately measured drug concentrations in putrefied blood and tissues. This kind of study on the effects of putrefaction on forensic analyses has not been reported previously.
