Summary: Aquaponics, an integrated agri-aquaculture system, has the potential to address the water-food-energy nexus and meet the increasing demands of the global population with minimal ecological cost. It offers reduced resource utilization, discharge mitigation, nutrient and energy recycling, and production of highly nutritious food within the system. While research has transitioned from optimizing system performance to exploring marine, inland saline, and decoupled aquaponics, there is still a need for constructive scientific concepts. This article provides insights into the current state-of-art and offers recommendations for future research orientation in developing this sustainable production technology.

Summary: Despite the global demand for naturopathic care, naturopathic practitioners are not well integrated into mainstream health systems due to poor knowledge among policy makers and other health professionals. This study examines the practice behaviors of naturopathic practitioners and identifies predictors of naturopathic treatment and practices worldwide. The findings provide important insights into contemporary naturopathic practice behavior, which may help to overcome misconceptions and improve integration within the healthcare community.

Summary: The survey found that almost all naturopathic practitioners have participated in at least one health promotion activity, primarily providing information sheets, social and professional networking, and giving information talks to community members. Most NPs design health promotion activities based on health issues raised by community members, and NP characteristics associated with specific health promotion activities varied.

Summary: The study found a gap between the knowledge and practice of healthcare practitioners in exercise counseling and referral for cancer survivors. A significant proportion of practitioners had poor knowledge of when, how, and which cancer survivors to refer to exercise programs or professionals, and how to counsel based on exercise guidelines. Common barriers included safety concerns, time constraints, cancer survivors being told to rest, and not knowing how to screen people for suitability to exercise.

Summary: The increasing demand for water resources and limited land for agriculture have led to the development of innovative food production systems such as aquaponics. However, optimizing plant and fish yields in aquaponics is often challenging and economically unfeasible. Incorporating probiotics into aquaponic systems can improve crop yields and nutrient supply through various mechanisms, making it a strategy for sustainable agriculture. This review paper discusses the current knowledge of using probiotics in aquaponics and suggests further studies on their effects.

Summary: An international survey on children diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 showed a wide clinical spectrum, including Kawasaki disease-like cases, life-threatening shock, and milder cases with mainly fever and inflammation. A shorter duration of symptoms before admission was associated with a worse outcome.

Summary: This survey aimed to determine the consensus among endodontic specialists and practitioners worldwide on the diagnosis of selected case scenarios, and to suggest modifications to the current diagnostic terms. The survey found a lack of consensus among clinicians, regardless of their training and region of practice, on the appropriate diagnostic terms for specific clinical conditions.

Summary: Aquaponics systems have unique microbial communities in different compartments, with nitrifying bacteria identified in the hydroponic compartments. The composition of microbial communities varied over time in the anaerobic compartment, with more archaeal reads obtained from sludge samples. Fresh fish feces had lower bacterial diversity with a discrete gut flora composition. The most pronounced differences in microbial community compositions were observed between the aerobic and anaerobic loops of the system.

Summary: The study compared the quality traits and secondary metabolites of tomatoes, parsley, and basil grown in aquaponics system and organic farming. It was found that the overall quality of aquaponics and organic cultures appeared to be comparable, indicating that aquaponic farming can be an innovative, rapid, and sustainable way of producing quality food.

Summary: The study found that gradually reducing pH from 7.6 to 5.6, followed by a gradual return of available ammonium, was the most effective strategy to retain 81% nitrification activity at pH 5.6. Furthermore, microbial communities adapted to pH 5.6 were enriched with comammox bacteria and showed below detection levels of N2O production.
