Summary: This study uncovers a previously unknown role of CDH11 in cancer progression. CDH11 stabilizes beta-catenin in the cytoplasm and facilitates its translocation to the nucleus, resulting in activation of Wnt signaling and increased proliferation, migration, and invasion potential in tumors.

Summary: We present a case of metatarsal metastasis in a 65-year-old man who had undergone radical right nephrectomy 5 years prior. The tumor was histopathologically confirmed as clear cell renal cell carcinoma originating from the first metatarsal. Metastasis to the metatarsal bone is extremely rare, with less than 0.01% of patients experiencing foot bone metastases. The most common histotype for bone metastasis is lung cancer. Renal carcinoma metastases typically exhibit lytic lesions and poor osteoblastic response, resulting in limited uptake of the Tc-99m-MDP tracer. Therefore, SPECT/CT should be used for diagnosing any uncertain regions.

Summary: Bone metastases are a major issue in the progression of breast cancer, posing a significant treatment challenge. Interleukin-11 plays a key role in bone metastasis and could be a candidate for anti-metastatic therapy. Further research is needed to understand the contribution of different cytokines in breast cancer progression and develop effective therapeutic strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to define the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of RCC with spinal bone metastasis (sBM). The analysis found that MSKCC risk stratification, number of sBM, visceral metastasis, and en-block resection are significant prognostic factors for overall survival in RCC patients with spinal BM. For selected patients with solitary spinal BM and no visceral metastasis, en-block resection of spinal BM may potentially prolong survival and is the treatment of choice.

Summary: Renal cell carcinoma is a common tumor with high recurrence and metastasis rates. Image-guided ablation techniques, such as microwave, radiofrequency, cryo, and laser, can effectively control tumor progression. Systemic treatment can be initiated at a certain time after the ablation. The primary success and efficacy rates were high, and no significant complications occurred.

Summary: The introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitors has greatly improved treatment strategies for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and increased survival rates. However, there is a lack of standardized treatment for bone metastases from RCC after targeted therapy. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of palliative surgical treatment for bone metastases in patients with advanced RCC and found that the postoperative results were positive, emphasizing the importance of systemic treatment over local control for advanced bone metastasis in RCC.

Summary: Recent evidence shows that circRNAs, particularly circPLIN2, play important regulatory roles in the development and progression of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) by increasing mRNA stability and competitively binding specific miRNA.

Summary: The study identified the essential role of KLF2 in suppressing the metastasis of ccRCC and its close correlation with GPX4. KLF2 deficiency is sufficient to inhibit ferroptosis and promote the migration and invasion of RCC cells. Reverting KLF2 expression decreased pulmonary metastatic lesions and prolonged life span of mice, while GPX4 overexpression reversed these properties, establishing a novel critical pathway for human ccRCC invasion and metastasis.

Summary: Dufies et al. found high Plk1 expression levels in aggressive clear cell renal cell carcinoma and discovered that Plk1 is transcriptionally upregulated in a manner dependent on HIF-2. They also found that high Plk1 expression is correlated to a poor prognosis and resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitor against VEGF receptor, suggesting a critical role for hypoxia/HIF-2-induced Plk1 in disease progression.

Summary: Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are a class of carbohydrates closely associated with cancer progression. They play important roles in cancer cell growth and signaling, as well as cell migration and invasion, which are crucial for metastasis. This review explores the potential use of GAGs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets for metastatic renal cancer, a disease with poor survival rates and major treatment challenges.

Summary: This study analyzed the expression levels of myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (MYPT1) in renal clear cell carcinoma (ccRCC) patients and its relationship with clinicopathological characteristics. The results showed that downregulation of MYPT1 was closely associated with advanced pathological stage and poor overall survival. Functional experiments demonstrated that overexpression of MYPT1 suppressed migration and invasion of ccRCC cells and exerted its inhibitory effects through the MAPK8/N-cadherin pathway.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to summarize current knowledge on testicular metastasis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). It was found that approximately one-third of RCC cases are recognized in its metastatic stage. Testicular metastasis suggests advanced disease stage, with swelling and enlargement of the affected testis as the main symptoms. Understanding the possibility of such RCC metastases is crucial for making an appropriate diagnosis and implementing timely treatment in the management of neoplastic disease.
